They look like the other side of where the seatbelt attaches. They’re not threaded and about 2-3/8” deep. I wondered if they don’t have a purpose, has anyone tapped them to bolt something there? Apologies if there’s already a thread.
Thanks
Roky

Yup ..the mechanism that helps it fold down and controls all of the bows that retract is on both sides attached to those holes.

If you keep the hard top on, I know there are bags that also use those holes to help connect the bags. As a Christmas gift my wife and daughter got me 2 XG Cargo Gama Spartsbar storage bags. Both the Bags come with a metal bracket that attach partly by using these holes.

They’re apparently for holding the vehicle along various parts of the production line.

Soft top brackets go on the sides of the rollcage, not the rear. There’s a bracket that can bolt into that location...I managed to fanangle one to fit my 2 door (after they sold it to me as fitting all JL’s they changed it to say only for JLU’s).

I welded My 3rd row OEM seatbelts to that spot on the JKU. It was not part of the JKU soft top.

This is the best/only picture I have of that bar...on the 2 door the bolt holes have to be extended then it fits.

(Forgive the pile of groceries, it was a food drive for local veterans).

I use those holes to shoot off bottle rockets on the 4th.

(....and they have nothing to do with the soft top fyi)

I have these bags, too. They're fantastic.

To confirm what @KnG818 said, those holes are not used by the soft top. I'm not entirely sure but I believe they are threaded under a layer of paint. Like I did with the hard top mounting holes to attach some hooks, you can drive a bolt through them (a little hard the first time) to clear the paint if you want to mount something there.

That boss is not threaded. I tapped it and used it to mount a fire extinguisher using the CoolTechLLC mount.
