Anyone else having issues with liquid under your carpet? I’m not really sure what’s going on. It’s a clear liquid but oily/greasy feeling.

I had my Jeep checked for leaks, so far nothing. Also, I have the oem molded mats and they’ve never had water leaked on top of them. It’s wet under the mat and through the carpet. So, it has to be coming from underneath the vehicle?

I pulled out the carpet and it’s wet and greasy feeling. The body seal is discolored and really squishy. Also when you push on it, you can see liquid squeeze out.

I have been to the car wash but that was a month ago (so things should have dried if that was the cause). And I have not driven through any deep water.

Any ideas of what’s going on here. The dealership doesn’t have any answers for me.

Someone was naughty and spilled their lube in the back seat?

Where? Front or back?

I had water both on top of my driver side Mopar slush mat and the carpet underneath after it rained. At first I thought it was due to an issue with a newly installed Sunrider for Hardtop. However when a brand new replacement top didn’t fix the issue, I put my freedom panels back on and went to the dealer to have their leak specialist find the leak.

Turned out to be an improperly installed driver door seal and an improper seal at the body seam under the driver side cowl.

Bri g the vehicle back to the dealer and have them check those items on both sides.

Do you have any peripheral wiring coming into the cabin? Did you pull the drain plugs for the OEM mats?

I had the Mopar floor liners that drain right out the drain holes and I was getting the same thing. I reinstalled the drain plugs and put Bestop liners in and haven't noticed the issue since.

I'll be driving in some heavy rain tomorrow and will check it again to be sure, but I think water was somehow splashing up through those drain holes. That's the only explanation that makes any sense to me right now.

It was wet on both the front and back of the drivers side. I pulled up the carpet from the back and it’s been staying dry. The front is still wet. The carpet is up from that area now. So I’m hoping the foot well dries out. It still seems wet under that body seal. Also the carpet has a chemical smell ... and it greasy feeling. I did have the slush mats in and thought the same thing about the drain plug not sitting in properly. So I reinstalled the mats on top of the plug so it would definitely be in place. The damn carpet still got soaked. 🤷🏻‍♀️

No additional wiring. I’ve tried the mats with and without the drain plugs. Still wet.

That could be a sign of a leaking heater core. That might be anti-freeze you’re describing.

This sounds feasible to me. I’d let the dealer check it out.
