The guys in the USA missed out on this little gem, but our Administrator has been kind enough to setup a Technical Section for those of us lucky to own or wanting to find out more about the 2.2L Mutijet Turbo Diesel in the JL Wrangler.

I avoided the diesel in the UK, the higher diesel cost per litre kind of nullified the advantage of better MPG than petrol. Also the 2.0 petrol is definitely a lot more responsive than the diesel and modern diesels have too many parts that can potentially break.

However I would like to see them phase out the 2.2 in the EU in favour of the 3.0 diesel. I can’t imagine emissions are a problems as many other car manufacturers make large diesels for their SUV’s.

I’ve ordered JLUR 2.2 MultiJet Diesel, hopefully awaiting the delivery before the New Year (order placed on the 3rd of July  ).
We have approximately the same cost for diesel and petrol here in Cyprus, I like the massive torque of diesel engine from the low RPM's - definitely is good for small towns and endless hills. Test drove 2.0 turbo petrol - definitely loved that engine too, but since Jeep is our 3rd car in the family I decided to have it diesel. For a single daily driver maybe would have preferred petrol as well for more fun. But I have another car if I want to go faster  . And personally for me an off-road vehicle is a diesel vehicle - cannot exactly explain why... Americans would probably never agree with me since I think their "ideal engine" for a Jeep is petrol with at least 8 cylinders and minimum 4.0 liters :muscle:
Certainly would go with 3.0 V6 diesel if it was available in the EU.

I totally agree with your comments, diesel produce more torque and that's what you want when going serious off roading. Why petrol with no torque just massive HP just to roar off at the lights or spin the wheels in the mud.
My 2.2 Rubicon is awesome, the fuel economy is outstanding both around town at approx. 9 lph and on the highway about 7.5 lph but i have had it down to 6.7 lph when I took it easy and slipped streamed a few trucks on the highway.

Agree! I believe the 2.2 MJD is the way to go
I'll get mine in September, so I can't wait!

Anyone knows where we can get a workshop manual for the EU Wranglers with this engine?

Hi All, I'm trying to find the JL DTC (list of diagnostic error codes).
Can anyone point me toward where I can down load the file?

I've never seen any codes posted or listed for this new model yet.
These cars have many more codes than the JK.

But I'm looking to get a 2019 2.2 D Sahara that has done some distance. 94k km.

Any word on the durability and longevity of these engines?

Thanks in advance!

Engines are bullet proof and extensively used in commercial vehicles. The only problem they seem to have is with DPF issues due to lack of regeneration unless you do regular motorway miles.

Can anyone tell me where I can find the parts list for this Export JL Multijet diesel model?
All parts sites in the USA only show the petrol variants.
