On Friday, we picked up our new JLR that we ordered in February. We drove it home, which was a three hour drive, and it drove well. Once we got home, we parked, picked up our kids, and took a short drive around our neighborhood. Then it happened; the Jeep let out a squeal, a BANG and stopped running. Nothing looked noticeably wrong under the hood, but there was a slight burning smell, the check engine light was illuminated and the engine wouldn't turn on. We got it towed to a dealership and the mechanics were puzzled. They searched and found the culprit; it was a dowel that is used to hold the engine in place during assembly. Apparently, it was not removed and was sheered off (luckily) after we got home. We got the Jeep back today with it's new starter but this one was new to me.
