Wondering if anyone else has experienced issues like this. In the 2 months I’ve had my JL, I’ve went to other metro areas twice. Those are the only 2 times I’ve had issues with my infotainment and it returned to normal both times the next day.

The first time was on a road trip to another city 2 hours away. Everything worked fine on the way up, the next day my entire infotainment froze up. Couldn’t use nav, listen to music, etc. Called the support desk and no change. I had planned to take it to the dealer the following morning after returning, but magically the next day everything was working fine.

Last weekend I went on a trail ride to another city, and again everything was fine on the way there. But the next day, I had an even weirder issue. Everything on the infotainment worked EXCEPT CarPlay. The nav worked, radio worked, etc. My iPhone was getting a charge from the Jeep, but it wouldn’t recognize the phone and activate CarPlay (although I could make calls over Bluetooth). I tried using a different USB cable, different USB Jack, etc, but nothing. So I was forced to drive home using the built-in nav instead of Waze (what am I? Amish?). And again, the next morning everything was back to normal and it works fine.

I know I know, these are def first world problems. But I’m wondering whether this is because the Nav is trying to download a new city’s maps when I drive to those markets, and if so these problems will keep repeating everytime I take a road trip. Anyone else experienced anything like this?

The few times I've gotten this glitch, I've found just shutting off and restarting everything made it work again. I haven't noticed it much since my latest TSB flash though.

What radio do you have... the 8.4 ?

Yes, we have seen quite a few forum posts where the radio (often the 8.4) will start hiccuping. Guys have seen the issue you mention, also saw back-up camera issues, USB ports disabled, etc., etc..

More often then not, the radio soon goes back to normal. May take a day+-.

Rebooting the radio, more often then not, will get the radio back up right away.

IF you have a programmer, say a Tazer JL Lite, you can use it to easily reboot the radio.

IF you do not, you can go to the power distribution center and pull Fuse F11, which controls power to the UConnect's USB and auxiliary ports. Do this and the radio will reboot.

You can also disconnect all 12v power to the JL and that will cause a reboot.

No point in running to the dealer unless this issue just won't stop or happens very frequently. Not much the dealer can do unless your radio... the hardware is problematic.

The hiccups, flakey radio..... are undoubtedly attributed to the radio firmware. Hopefully, in time, over the air (OTA) updates will get the hiccups to a minimum.

Twice in the last month when on road trips, I had my Waze just quit and I was forced so to speak to use Waze direct from my android smart phone.

All my USB ports just stopped working.. 8-(

Anyway, I used my android smart phone until I could find a moment to pull over and reboot the radio using my Tazer JL Lite.

Takes the Tazer JL Lite, 180 seconds to reboot things...

After the reboot, all was well with the USB ports and of course android auto with Waze was again up and running..

Had I not had the Tazer JL, I would have momentarily pulled the F11 fuse and that would have rebooted the radio and corrected things...

Update: This method is not currently working on JL Uconnect systems.

If you are experincing a locked up radio, you can hold down the power/volume button and the browse/enter button until the radio reboots.

Pretty cool. I need to go see if that works with my 7 inch UConnect.

@TexasNate

Unfortunately, this has been mentioned over and over, this is a no go, lets say with the JL's radio....
JeepCares was suggesting this for a while and it was a bust..

Ok. Sorry about that. I’ve used this method on my Cherokee, haven’t had to messed with it on my JL.

Hey.... no reason to be sorry. Really is weird that, that way of forcing reboot does not do the deed with the JL.

Last week coming back from the eastern Sierras, I had the opposite problem. When my phone was plugged in, only CarPlay worked. I rebooted my phone and everything went back to normal. I do notice my phone goes a little haywire in high altitudes.

Hi guys...new forum member here.
Yes, I'm having these exact problems with my 2018 JLUR with the 8.4 Uconnect. My Jeep is at the dealer today getting a software update that's supposed to fix this. We'll see...
