I like that the 4 door exists, it's clearly a marketing success and makes a lot of money for Jeep. But I don't think it should have been named the Wrangler Unlimited. Similar to how Ford shouldn't have called it the Mustang Mach-E or Bronco Sport, I feel it just creates confusion and takes away from the pedigree of the Wrangler/Mustang/Bronco. None of these are bad products, but I feel they could stand on their own and don't need to drag down the Wrangler/Mustang/Bronco name for simply a marketing gimmick. Jeep has "Willys Station Wagon" in their history that they could have been revived for the 4 door. It was one of the most successful post-WWII models Willys produced so it even has its own pedigree in the name.
If it were just offered as a 2 door, well, they wouldn't even be making them anymore. Wouldn't have the sales, or at least they wouldn't have had the investment to make it what it is now.

One other thing, the 2 door makes it easier to shoehorn it into a parking spot on the street. Case in point, my younger son is in marching band in high school. He had to do a football game and it was in downtown. Thus only street parking. I drove around and found a perfect spot. thing is unless you had somethng short, it was not going to happen. 2 door is short and thus I squeezed it in there. Plus I was able to get it right up against the curb. In the end, it looked like I did the proper parking job and the others did not.

The 2 door is more of a classic Jeep shape to me.
Nothing against the 4 doors but they don’t quite do it for me. Maybe when the Grand Cherokee gives up the ghost a 4 door might join as a daily but a GC makes more sense to me.

Agree 100% on the GC. Great vehicle, comfortable, good on the highway, plenty of space.

I will show you 2 door guys some respect.

You got your own section and you wasted no time jumping in and starting some serious conversations.

Sometimes people ask for stuff and then don't take advantage of the opportunity when they get it. Not the case here. :like:

What I tell people is that I'm amazed how the European are Jeep fans. The amount of them I see on the road there is way more than any other American vehicle. Even my wife noticed as she works for a German Company and travels there almost every month (she's in Essen right now).

Jeepster too, 2 friends had them. One with mods. Chevy V8, lift, wheels-tires, very nice rig !
I had a 49 Willys Wagon, a 69 Jeepster, a 74 Wagoneer, and a 96 Cherokee...all 2 doors and, except for the Wagoneer, all at least moderately trail capable. My JL does what I want/need very nicely.
