I am close to finishing my speaker upgrade but my planned placement for my LOC, underneath the rear seats, won't work because of space so moving it to the the rear bay mounted on the wall. I often leave my back open and had water in the hidden compartment in a rainstorm so don't want to put it there as I have seen people do so. I was thinking about an electrical junction box to house it. I don't think it will get hot as it is just an LOC. It would be something like this: https://www.amazon.com/TICONN-Water...ocphy=9012380&hvtargid=pla-1968767890490&th=1

Anyone ever done anything like this?

The box should work fine, but if it fits in a 9"x7"x4" box it would fit under one of the front seats?

I have two amps going under the front two seats. I have some of the mounts to do so and was going to put the LOC on the underside but then it was touching the floor and blocking the vent. I had a lot of room under the seats in my JK for what I installed there but the collapsing back-seat (which is nice for room) and the vents under the front seats really start to limit space for a project like this in a JL.

With my old TJ, I mounted amps under the rear seat. I thought about boxes like those, but they stuck up too high and prevented proper ventilation to the equipment. I just ended up fabricating a small shield around the back of the amps where the wiring is exposed in case water splashed back there somehow. The rear seat protects the electronics from getting directly rained on so your only real worry is if the water puddles back there. In the TJ, I had removed all the carpet already so I was not too worried about water intrusion and clean out. So, I just drilled a couple of extra drain holes in case I left it out in the rain for an extended time by mistake. This way, the water would drain out before rising enough to get into the electronics. TJ is on 40's so not much chance of the water coming back in during a river crossing, not that I would go that deep anyway. I have had this setup for 10 years without a problem.

I purchased one of those covers to throw over the Jeep when the top and doors are off. Just remember to put a pool noodle or something between the roll bars to keep the water from collecting.

With my JLUR, I have four amps under the passenger seat and the ARB system under the driver's seat. I have the Armorlite flooring system. Actually had to cut most of it out under the seat to get everything to work. I kept everything out of the rear of this one because I frequently run around with the soft top in safari mode and even with a metal deck cover over the rear, water gets back there. I don't ever have to park this one outside at home and just carry a cover for it when we are out on the trails overnight. Recently, my daughter and I were stuck at over 12,000' in an unexpected hail and then rain storm for over an hour without a full top and doors, while we made it back down the mountain to base camp. We were soaked to the bone. I pulled the Armorlite drain plugs right after the storm started. Fortunately the water did not accumulate at all. When I got home, I pulled the flooring and was excited to see it was not wet underneath.

Video of trail ride mentioned above for those asking why we were not more prepared... It was 100 degrees at our house at 6,200'. We had food, coats and other survival gear as always, so we would have been fine, just not comfortable. Storm hit at around the 26:00 mark.
