I talked to the Mopar guys at Easter Jeep about the differences in the Rubicon version versus the standard Zeon. They said that they upscreened the Zeon in various conditions. When subjected to there environmental chambers, the salt fog and extreme moisture showed some deficiencies. Most notably was in the exposed fasteners. In fact the negative terminal actually corroded off. To combat this they had Warn swap out all the hardware with MOPAR supplied hardware that is plated like all the exposed hardware on the wrangler. I'm surprised they did not just use stainless, but plated normal bolts was probably cheaper.
Not sure it is worth the up charge, but if you need to wrap the cost into your financing, as least there is a little extra benefit going with the Rubicon Zeon. Hopefully, the Rubicon version will come with the 90degree clutch internals.
