Greetings Jeepers!

In case anyone who stumbles upon this is wondering, a Warn Zeon 12-S will fit on the Warn winch plate inside the Mopar steel bumper with a little modification. The 12-S is just a hair larger than the 10-S.

I was able to install without modification on my steel bumper. Either way, it does work.

It's been a year and a half since we posted up the How-To and we've just updated it with a How-To video:

This install went without a hitch, no cutting or grinding on the frame horns.

I’m installing the warm winch plate and I have some extra “something” where I am mounting. What are the black mounts for and doi need them or should they be removed?

One of them will be in the way and has to be removed. I put my impact on it and broke the nut loose.

Thank you for the feedback. I was able to cut one of them off, grind it smooth, then spray painted it to prevent rust. Works like a charm.

Installed this plate with a Warn VR EVO 10S today. If you're planning on it, go ahead and get blue locktite and two 50mm 1.75xM12 bolts for the fairlead; the supplied bolts were probably long enough, but the 50mm makes it so much easier. I tried with the supplied bolts for about 30 minutes and almost had it, but it took less than 5 minutes with the longer ones. I also left out these two bolts until the end, made reaching into the bumper to attach the fairlead and plate a little easier. The weight definitely brought the front end down about an inch.

Thanks for the write up and the video. We got a great deal on a Zeon 10-S Platinum on BF. I plan on installing it this weekend. I’d like to replace the Warn hawse with a Factor 55 one but I’m not sure which thickness of F55 hawse I should use to keep the factory Warn capped bolts.

What is the part number of the black fairlead hawse that you used? Were you able to use the Warn supplied fairlead bolts or did you need a different length? I have the Mopar winch plate but I like the backing plate with the license plate mount by Warn. Do they sell the separately?

We used a red Maximus 3 fairlead in our build.

We have the Black Maximus 3 fairlead here: https://www.northridge4x4.com/part/...max-glide-fairlead-performance-fairlead-black

The Warn black fairlead is here: https://www.northridge4x4.com/part/fairleads-fairlead-brackets/100333-warn-hawse-fairlead-black

The lisc. plate mount is Warn pn# 101256. ...EDIT: Unfortunately they are not available from WARN separately.

I completed the install of the WARN winch plate, ZEON 10-S, and MOPAR winch guard a few days ago. Thanks to everyone for sharing their experience here--it was a big help.

I was able to torque all the bumper nuts to 66 ft-lbs. The driver side inner nuts were definitely the hardest to reach, and impossible with my 18mm 1/2" drive socket. I was able to access deez nuts from underneath using a 3/8" drive medium depth socket, 2 or 3 extensions, and a small torque wrench that measures to 75 ft-lbs.

I continue to struggle with the driver side outer upper nut. I’m ashamed to admit how many hours I’ve invested on this last nut. The bumper stud is too close to the Zeon 10 S Platinum end housing to fit a socket over the nut. I went so far as to grind off the nut flange face just so I could get the nut started on the bumper stud threads. I tried loosening the four winch mount bolts and tried to move the winch over a little bit but it won’t budge. I’ve ordered a cheap thin wall 18mm deep socket and am actually planning on cutting a slot in it to get it over the nut and finish with this installation. As you can see in the picture the winch is offset about 3/16” towards the driver side. Has anyone else had to deal with this?

BTW; 2019 Wrangler MOAB JL and Warn mounting bracket.

That’s really odd. My 10-S with WARN 101255 plate looks like this:

EEAE2ED5-4205-4F9D-98B2-0441FDC0C07C.jpeg

I suspect that might be why that nut is so hard to access (it’s a pain even with a centered winch).

I’d suggest writing WARN customer service—they’re fantastic.

Had the same issue on my 2020 JL Rubicon with the Warn mount plate and the Warn Zeon 10s. There is not enough room for the driver side inner top bumper nut to start on the bump bolt. I also tried loosening everything and shifting it over with no luck. Something is just a bit off.

Update: When I installed the winch plate, I did not realize that the 2 small tack welded nuts on each of the frame rail brackets were actually limiting the "slop" in the new winch bracket setup. One nut on each side was interfering. I read about these extra nuts on this forum.
I loosened up all the plate and bumper bolts, knocked the welded nuts off the brackets, and was able to then shift the winch and plate to the passenger side. Walllaaaa! The winch is now centered and that last bumper bolt nut, top inner driver side, went right on. Was able to tighten it from the top with a regular deep socket.
