Volume Issue with Apple Music, USB Connected 8.4” Head Unit

An annoying thing occurred while making a cross-country trip the last two weeks. While playing Apple Music from my library, the volume suddenly drops randomly and considerably. One click on the steering wheel volume button brings it back up. I am connected via USB-C, and the speed volume control is turned off.

Any ideas? The cable is new.

I known if I pause on Android Auto, turning the volume knob or using steering wheel controls will un-mute at whatever volume it was at prior to pausing.
Are you using Carplay or just Bluetooth?

CarPlay, hard-wired via USB-C.

Very odd. Especially if you're not pausing. Are you able to try it with a different iPhone? I'm thinking the issue is on phone side, maybe?

I’m doing the 18.1.1 update now, and have to head into town shortly. I will let you know if that makes a difference.

After the iPhone update, no issues so far - other than a new one. Now my music randomly pauses between songs

Try with another phone as well if you can.

When I upgraded to a ZFold 6, I couldn't use USB from center armrest anymore, and had to move to USB C on dash.
Have you tried with that connection?

I've had this happen a few times with carplay.

Is your gps muted? Mine was and it seemed like is get a hiccup when it wanted to give me directions sometimes. Like you I'd hit the volume button and it normalized
