Question.
2020 Rubicon 2dr
Subtle vibration on highway from approx 68-74mph
Wheel balancing pretty much ruled out because vibration existed with stock wheels AND after I switched to new wheels.
Jeep build December 2019
Don’t feel like going to the dealership.
Thinking about pulling my rear driveshaft and bringing it to the local driveshaft place to check out.
Should I bother? What are the odds my driveshaft is unbalanced?
Thanks

To rule things out pull rear driveshaft and check for vibrations. If vibration is gone than repair rear driveshaft.

If you go off road it’s possible you could have nicked your driveshaft or maybe the balancing weights came off. I can’t see it being anything else if you’ve got new tires and rims.

I’ve heard a couple complaints that the driveshaft wasn’t balance from factory. Take off the rear shaft and have it tested.

Thanks for the replies.
I’ll pull the rear driveshaft and have the local axle shop check it out.
Any issues with driving my Rubicon in 4H without the rear shaft?

Hey Troy that’s an excellent question if you can drive in 4H without a drive shaft. I’d love to know that too. It seems like it would be ok being your transfer case is still coupled with the engine. At that point how different are we from a front wheel drive car? There’s a lot of smart people in these rooms I’d love to hear from them.
Actually, it’s your idea, you should consider starting a thread on that question.
“Hypothetically if you lost your driveshaft can you get by in 4H off of your transfer case?”

It' ok to drive on 4HI w/o the rear drive shaft. Steering will feel weird and will respond different.
I wouldn't drive it on the highway, only around town.
