I was on a 800 mile trip over the weekend and started getting intermittent vibration at 50+’ish mph front somewhere in the right front. Sometimes it would go away after a couple of seconds and sometimes it would take a few minutes to stop. I say stop but it always felt/sounded like it was still happening, just with a low intensity. I could feel the vibration in the steering wheel, pedals, floorboard, seat, basically everywhere but the shifter (manual transmission). The vibration would stop after I slowed to around 30 mph. I rolled the window down while driving next to a concrete median barrier and could hear an awful metallic grinding noise.
When I stopped and checked underneath the front driveshaft was hot to touch (rear was warm) and the transmission was almost as hot as the oil pan. Front axle near the wheels was just warm and front diff was pretty warm, although I think that's because the driveshaft was so hot. It does this every time I drive and get up to the 50 mph mark.
No idea if it's related but I've had it back for about 3 weeks after having a rusted throw out bearing replaced (on a 22K mile JL!). Ever since I've had it back the transmission shifts "clunkier" and sometimes will not go into first gear without disengaging/engaging the clutch.
Any ideas?
