JT hopefuls, we have good news!

JLWF just confirmed from a very recent supplier internal document that the 2019 JT Wrangler pickup truck will launch (production) in October 2018.

As noted in our Toledo plant schedule the 2019 JT will be built at Toledo Supplier Park (Toledo South) after the plant shuts down for retooling starting on March 31, 2018.

UPDATE: August 2018: 2019 JT Wrangler Pickup Truck Order Banks Open

Keep tuned here and in our JL/JT info thread as additional details roll in.

Yes and there's a huge small-mid size pickup pie to split. Almost 200k Tacomas sold in 2016. Over 100k Colorados. And over 600k F-150's! That's about 1 million small to midsize pickup trucks sold in 2016. I can see the JT pickup selling 200-300k easy in its first year.

F-Series truck sales rose 8.7% last month (best since '04). And so far this year (in just 2 months) Ford has sold 123,951 F-Series trucks, up 10.4%. I'd say truck sales are still pretty hot

Except the F150 doesnt belong is this category of small to midsize truck.

My truck and Jeep are both city vehicles so I cant wait for this new Wrangler truck and though it doesnt seem likely I hope its a full sized truck.

Unless they have drastically lengthened the JLU it seems the JT is destined to be a midsize pickup if they share the same frame/underpinnings. There's still no definitive proof of that but the FCA brass keep calling it the Wrangler pickup so it seems like it.

It makes more sense too when you consider FCA's entire products. I'm sure they don't want the JT to be stepping on their Ram portfolio, only the 1500 would be cross shopped with a midsize and the JT is going to serve a different purpose than that.

I don't know if FCA cares as much about their products overlapping as we think they do. There was a midsize Ram truck spotted testing last year so they clearly don't mind having similar sized pickups from both Jeep and Ram.

Our latest information still indicates that Toledo Supplier Park (TSP) will shut down in April 2018 to retool for the 2019 JT Wrangler Pickup (See also: JL/JT Toledo plant schedule)

In the FCA 2017 first quarter results conference call held this past Wednesday, April 26, 2017, FCA chief Sergio Marchionne reiterated that in the "first half of 2018" the company would be "decommissioning the old Wrangler and begin work on the introduction of the pickup truck which is coming up next."

We expect that the plant will be shut down for an estimated 6 months and begin production in late 2018 (as early as October).
