I'm dusting off this old thread because I had the same thing happen to me this morning. Both my USB2 and USB3 ports weren't working, the LED light surrounding them was out, and plugging anything into USB1 was futile because the screen kept telling me an supported device was already plugged in.

Just like most technology, a nice hard reset did the trick. I pulled fuse F11 from the fuse box which controls power to the UConnect's USB and auxiliary ports, waited a few seconds, popped it back in, and all was good. I didn't see this mentioned here when troubleshooting the issues you guys were running into, but should it happen to someone else, I'd try the fuse before going through the tedious process of having the dealership replace a bunch of hardware.

Thanks for sharing. My part was loose which is why I wanted them to either fix it or replace it. So far, still working.

Frustrated, My jeep has been back to the dealership twice for this problem for a total of 14 days with no resolve. I came to look at this thread and found this new entry. So I went out to see if I could get mine to work. It has not worked since the day I picked it up three months ago. This trick worked if the phone was plugged in and you connect was on when pulling the fuse. But if I disconnected the phone it stopped working again. I repeated this experiment several times. Same result each time.

That's a bummer. Obviously, mine was just a minor glitch, but it sounds like you and others in this thread have/had a more serious issue. I'm sure they'll get it resolved.

Just got off the phone with Jeep. They confirmed a verity of problems with the 7” radios and CarPlay. No solutions have been identified. I was told that the dealership would be paid under warranty to replace the 7” with the 8” display that don’t seem to have the CarPlay problem (couple hours labor). Side note..... I was informed that “some” have a special bracket installed to house the 7” and that bracket would have to be removed. That would add hours onto the repair/replacement.

Dude! Sweet!

Of course it is. The dealership is going to milk Chrysler all they can for that sweet service cash, even though it takes less than five minutes to remove the HVAC control panel, the UConnect bezel, and the entire unit itself from the center of the dash. In fact, it took me longer to type out, edit, and post this reply than it does to remove the unit from the dash.

My Jeep is at the dealership as we speak for the same issue. I took it in Tuesday and they told me yesterday (Wed) that since I have an iPhone, it will only work 'sometimes'. It worked for the first two months just fine and hasn't worked for 2.5 weeks now. I wasn't informed when I purchased the Jeep that it would only work sometimes. What kind of response is that? Anyways, I asked them to check the wiring to the head unit to see if it was loose and haven't heard anything since. Maybe I'll mention the replacing of the 7" with the 8" & see where that goes.

I’ve searched for this and cannot find anything specific to the new wranglers. I have a JLU Rubicon and have been using my Console USB port (media input 2) for my iPhone and CarPlay. It has worked perfectly until today. I’ve checked fuses, and swapped phone cords with no luck. Other USB ports work and support CarPlay but I cannot figure out what happened to the console USB port.
Same problem. Worked good for 2 weeks. Now all USB ports charge but CarPlay does not connect. I have an 8” screen. I tried deleting all connections, pulling the fuse, etc but nothing works.

1450 miles on JLUR with 8.4" unit. Was on my way to work....CarPlay working fine iPhone 6Plus .....then in the middle of the ride, my passenger plugged in another iPhone that he has plugged in many times and boom...CarPlay stopped functioning, USB ports stopped charging and only thing working is bluetooth...USB ports dead. Restarted the phone, restarted the jeep, reset the parring and nothing. Going to try the fuse reset and see if that fixes it. But this sounds like software more than hardware.

UPDATE:
Fuse removed....waited 30 seconds...re-inserted....USB ports still not functioning.

I took my JLUS in for the center console USB having intermittent operation [and some other problems like misfire CEL and digital to speedometer mismatch]. The dealer said they found the cable going between the front USB port and the console USB port pinched. I have not been able to test if it works now or not since my Jeep is still in service for the CEL [rebuilding the valve train]. When I get it back [hopefully by next week] I will be sure to test the center console USB, and the misfire condition of course. And the dealer said the digital to speedometer mismatch is normal [anything within 3 mph is good]. I just laughed and called BS. Do not know what is happening with that yet.

Took it in for service originally on 26 Apr. Have not had it since.

Just adding a "me too" to this thread. The front USB ports in my 5 day old Sahara have failed. I was using them with Android Auto, but now there's no light / power / connection on the ports. (Double checked w/ several different cables / devices). The other USB ports are still working fine, and I can connect through them.

I really don't want to take my Jeep in for service for this issue. I'm going to try the reset, but assuming that doesn't work, does anyone have some quick directions on pulling the bezel / radio so I can check for loose connections?

Thanks!
