I been dealing with this issue for 2 years now ever since buying the Jeep back in 2018. The disconnect/connect drama is a daily occurrence for me, and I’m always fiddling with the usb connectors trying to get it to work and it’s exhausting and distracts me while driving. Sometimes it would disconnect and never recognize my device again until I pull fuse F11. Which means I have to pull over, and flip my hood on the side of the road. Not fun.

I brought me Jeep in to the dealers for an oil leak and asked them to also take a look at the USB issues. they told me they don’t have a new update for my radio and they couldn’t replicate the issue.
I'm very sorry to hear this. Have you had a case open for this concern? If not, please send us a private message. I would be happy to help!

Ok, I've been hit with the same issue now too. For me I think what sent my system over the edge was juggling back and forth between Android Auto and Apple Car play. Now I either get device not supported, or just totally ignores it. Still getting a charge though.

I am experiencing a similar problem with my 2019 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon: I plug my iPhone 8 into the center console USB port (using a new Apple-certified cable), CarPlay works fine for about 20 minutes; then disconnects. Even though the USB port will continue to charge my phone, I cannot use CarPlay through the center console until the next day. I have tried all of the fixes suggested in this thread, but nothing has helped.

The dash USB port continues to operate normally. The dealer has replaced the center console USB port twice. My Jeep is still under warranty. What else can I do?!

I've been experiencing the same issue with iPhone 6 and 11 for pretty much the entirety that I have owned the Jeep. I've read a handful of things: faulty USB, Faulty Media Hub, etc. I'm honestly not sure. Seems consistent that it's USB 2 and it only charges. To me, based on my troubleshooting experience that says the data connection is bad- but if both the Media Hub and the USB port have been replaced (as well as cables, and eliminating any consistent problems on the user end, i.e. cable/ phone specific), I'm beginning to guess this is either a hardware issue with the head Unit (UConnect) or with the UConnect software itself. I've only done a cursory search but it seems people who have swapped to a different head unit (Aftermarket) don't have these issues, and also I've seen plenty of talk that UConnect is a bit of an antiquated and unwieldy dumpster fire on a system level- which is why they're supposedly switching to an Android based system in UConnect 5 instead of whatever homebrew atrocity Chrysler has been cobbling together.
Echoed elsewhere: I bought the Carplay 2 Air transmitter and have been using that with zero issues other than needing to be powercycled occasionally. I'll keep using that until I have more issues with my OEM Head unit, at which point it will get pulled for something more competent.

I’ve searched for this and cannot find anything specific to the new wranglers. I have a JLU Rubicon and have been using my Console USB port (media input 2) for my iPhone and CarPlay. It has worked perfectly until today. I’ve checked fuses, and swapped phone cords with no luck. Other USB ports work and support CarPlay but I cannot figure out what happened to the console USB port.

The weird thing is that after my Jeep is turned off and not on accessory mode, the console port starts to actively charge my phone. It does not charge my phone or even show a connection with the Jeep on but for whatever reason works with the Jeep off.

Any help or tricks? I cannot figure out how to reboot the Uconnect either. Thanks guys
I am having the same problem With my 2019 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. The dealership has replaced the console USB plug twice, but the problem continues. The dealership has promised to escalate. We shall see.

Same issues here on my 2019 Unlimited Rubicon. I was hoping there would be some sort of fix by now!

Where did you connect the transmitter? At the dash location or the USB in the counsel?

I had my center console go out and after checking the PDC I found a few fuses not seated properly so now I check them every oil change and all seems well.

I used the dash location (USB1) for about a week until the parts I ordered arrived for this install. there are good pics in that thread, as well as pics in my build thread (linked in my signature). My only recommendation is to mount the transmitter somewhere where you can access the plug easily- so that you can unplug to power cycle it to reset it, vs. having to shut down the Jeep and open the door to (sorta) do that.

posting this for everyone in the thread who was as pissed off as me that there isn't currently a solution for this from Jeep. Part of a growing problem: The industry is advancing faster than they can hire people to support their products. But that's another story for another day.

Interesting. I'm going to have to check this when I get a chance.

I've had this problem since buying the Jeep 2.5 years ago. I noticed it happens when I unplug my phone a few times within a relatively short amount of time, so I can mostly avoid doing that. But I'm currently on a road trip, so it's kind of unavoidable when stopping a lot to take pictures.

I think it's a software issue.

I have the opposite. I typically use the USB in the center console. Was driving along listening to CarPlay and it just stopped working. My front console still works.
Well Palmen Motors had my RJLU for 3 days they change my USB in the center console with new ones and the still wouldn't work but my dash one worked so finally they change my Dash USB even though it worked but they said it wasn't sending power to the USB in the center console once they did that all of the start working and charging my phone

Anyone know if there's been a formal resolution to this? I have this same issue in my '21 JL Rubicon. Both USB ports fail at times and I lose my connection to Carplay every few minutes. Jeep says they installed a software update that's supposed to fix the issue, but it hasn't.
