My usb in the dash stop working today, the one in my center console apparently has to be used to use Apple CarPlay now, I can’t win, always having issues with Uconnect
And now this, I get for most people this seems minor, but not knowing how anything “electronic” in the Jeep is going to work day by day, does get exhausting and down right depressing.. and due to everyday life getting in the way, I keep having to reschedule my dealership service appointments, and to be honest... I absolutely dread going there, because let’s be honest.. the mechanics are mediocre, and anything electronic related is just way beyond most of their capabilities... and with the gladiator being released now, I truly feel Jeep took a back seat approach to the wranglers.. the proof is in the forums..most people with serious issues are waiting months for replacement parts or solutions, and dealerships are at the mercy of FCA so it’s just a lose lose for everybody right now... @JeepCares

I have the opposite. I typically use the USB in the center console. Was driving along listening to CarPlay and it just stopped working. My front console still works.

One more experience...I had my phone connected on USB1 and my Powerbeats charging on USB2 in my console. I think the headphones being hooked up threw off the UConnect as the screen turned off and reset, after which my USB ports (all of them) quit working. Tried pulling the USB fuse which didn’t help, but ultimately pulling the Uconnect fuse (F97) reset everything and the USB ports have continued to work since.

Similar thing happened to me... phone plugged into USB2 (Center console) and Dash wireless earphones in USB1 to charge. Uconnect stopped recognizing my phone no matter what I did. Returning after a meeting 3hrs later and all was good.\

Good to know the Uconnect fuse is F97. What is the USB fuse?

For the record I am adding my experience on this topic: I've had my Jeep UL 2019 for about 2 weeks and have been using the middle console connection (USB2) to my phone for Android Auto... this worked flawlessly up until yesterday when it just stopped working. I unplugged it and connected to the dash and the dash USB worked fine - turned off the motor / then back on - it was still a dead connection on USB2 (no charge power to the phone, no Android Auto). I let the Jeep sit overnight and when I went to drive the next morning the USB2 connection was working perfectly fine again (and has been all day). So - not sure what is up but hopefully its not going to give me this intermittent failure as an ongoing treat.

It may be a fuse. Do a search in your digital manual for USB Fuse. There are two or three different fuses for the USB ports.

In my manual I found:

F11 – 10 Amp Red - UCI Port (USB & AUX); Universal Consumer Interface (UCI), also used for software updates
F51– 10 Amp Red - Digital TV (DSRC)/USB/InSide RearView Mirror (ISRVM)/ Compass Module (CSGM)
F102 – 15 Amp Blue - DUAL USB PORT

Thanks - I'll take a look, although I wouldn't suspect a fuse unless it was loose (?), it didn't work for an afternoon then came back to life the next day and worked fine after that? What am I missing?

USB 1 full size connector on the dash stopped working on my 2018 Rubicon with 8.4 radio and Alpine sound system. The USB 1 port was charging my phone slowly for several weeks and then stopped charging and connecting my phone to Apple play. I switched to USB port 2 in the center console and my phone connected and was charging fine. I was bugged and did not want to take the time to drive 300 miles round trip to the dealer and possibly be out of my Jeep for such a minor problem so I decided to tackle the problem myself. Here are the steps I used that fixed my USB connection.

1. I removed the switch cluster under the radio (Several videos on You Tube. Motor City Mechanic was the one I watched.)

2. I removed upper screw and tilted out the panel that contains the switches for the axle lock, sway bar disconnect, auxiliary switches, and the center that contains aux input as well as the USB ports.

3. With the panel tilted out I was able to access the connections on the USB aux input panel. On the top of the panel there were two USB mini connections and a multi pin connector on the back. All the connections appeared to be properly seated and tight.

4. Removed and reconnected all the connectors on the Media Center several times.

5. Reassembled the dash and tested the USB connectors in the Media Center and the were all working.

I have fixed other electronics by just removing and reinstalling the connectors so I thought I would give it a try on my Jeep. I have been helped so much by the post of other jeep members so I decided to post my experience so that I may help other members

Both of my USB ports have stopped working. Mine is at the dealer currently and they've opened a star case because they can't figure it out. Anyone get theirs resolved?

My media hub got moisture in it somehow and shorted out the USB connector.

Asking here in hopes maybe someone else has an answer:
This just started happening to me. I'll be driving along with my phone plugged into USB 2 and then it loses connection and if i try to press play on the phone itself, audio comes out of the phone speakers, even though it's still plugged in. If I plug the same setup into USB1 (dash), it worked fine the first time, no issues.
Fast forward to yesterday: USB2 died again on the way home from work. I tried plugging into USB1 and this time, it wouldn't read. I could switch screens on the Radio, and it would work (Radio, Satellite, HVAC), but Car play/ Media would not register any changes. I couldn't pair Bluetooth because my new phone hadn't been paired with my UConnect yet (as I mainly use car play). It seemed to work fine when I came out to go to work this afternoon (roughly 8-10 hours of inactivity).

For anyone who has had this happen- what was the fix? Other than pulling the fuse, and resetting the UConnect unit, because that seems to be treating the symptom. It seems like there is an issue with the software/ Connection to the media/USB ports. Connections tightened? Were parts replaced? A software update downloaded? This is really irritating as I use Carplay every day. My JLUR will eventually need to go in for the clutch recall- if I need parts, I will try to schedule it consecutively with that.

Thanks in advance.

Update: This happened again The other day, Same thing, but this time, all USB's and Bluetooth as well as the screen were unresponsive. It rebooted itself while I was driving down the road, then everything seemed fine.

Today, the USB's disconnected, reconnected, disconnected again, reconnected. I unplugged and switched to bluetooth and everything worked fine. Screen stayed responsive this time.

Does anyone know if there was a recent software update for UConnect? How do you check the software version of UConnect on the unit? I'll try to poke around a bit after work today. If I had to guess, I would guess it's either a software issue or a loose connection/ faulty media hub, based on the info in this thread.

If anyone has any additional insight or pointers, please feel free to share.
