I have a 2019 Wrangler with the 2.0T that I've been very pleased with, and according to the window sticker, my current 2.0 was manufactured in the US. I'm going to be purchasing a 2020 2.0T tomorrow, and I noticed that this engine was made in Italy. Both of these engines will have etorque. Has there been any data or even anecdotal evidence to suggest one is better than the other?

My 2018 was made in the US and my 2019 made in Italy. Both have been trouble free and cannot tell any difference.

Mine was manufactured in Italy, 2018 JL. I call it my Italian sports car. This engine is amazing and I drive it at 85-90mph often, too often. It's because that's the speed I need to travel at to get the steering to start pointing straight.

On your window sticker, there is a box for "Parts Content Information" and within that box wil be the country of origin for the engine and transmission. Let us know what you find!

Thank you! Appreciate your input. I just tried it, but sadly because mine is a Canadian VIN it does not show that breakdown 😔 I’ll need to find another method, maybe on the engine somewhere or an under hood emission decal.

My Italian has been flawless. Excellent power and unreal (for a Jeep😏) fuel economy. Couldn’t ask for more.

My other car is a Fiat: it is stylish, a blast to drive, the car is well put together, the engine sounds totally mean and it’s been trouble free.

But I realize 9 out of 10 Americans —and Canadians— wouldn’t touch a Fiat due to that company’s dubious quality 40+ years ago.

By all accounts, the 2.0T is a solid engine. In my individual case, I didn’t want both my vehicles powered by a Fiat engine that was made in Italy —just in case, you know...

For better or worse, that’s how reputations work.

Using Fiat as a proxy for the Alfa Romeo Guilia and the 2L engine which Jeep used for the Turbo is like calling the Compass a type of Wrangler...:)

Last time I checked, Fiat owned Alfa Romeo and made all its engines.

It is no different than Dodge V6 and V8 engines powering our Jeeps.

The 2.0T is an Alfa Romeo design. Fiat did not make the engines. Not all the parts on the Jeep engine are the same as those on the Alfa, but it has proven to be a good design for Alfa. The Termoli plant in Italy is where it’s made.
