UPR vs MISHIMOTO OIL Catch Can

We are looking at the 2.0 kits now.

Just a heads up on the UPR Catch Can and what it prevents along with the PCV system function/problem just to reconfirm the benefits of running a properly designed internal diffuser system like UPR.

Closed crankcases systems are standard on passenger vehicles. The problem starts with the manufacturers as they all use the PCV system vacuum to suck out all the positive pressure in the crankcase to improve MPG and Ring Seal. So, they are effectively creating the problem by using the open PCV system to improve the vehicle performance and it has to be done to allow somewhere for the blow-by to be released.

The oil comes from the crankcase as the PCV system uses the intake manifold vacuum to give a place for all the blow-by to exit and doing so they now allow the introduction of oil in the vapor/mist form to be sucked into the intake and then into the combustion chamber where it mixes with the gas and reduces the octane and lowers cylinder pressure or even causes engine detonation.

So, the advantage to our catch can system is that we offer a very complex diffuser system that coalesces the oil and removes it from the air before it can enter the engine and create any of the problems listed above.

Also, it does not matter if it is a direct port engine or not as the only difference is one engine washes the back of the valves down a bit better. Which has no benefit or cure to all the oil that gets sucked in before or after the DI. The reason being is now the oil can puddle in the intake manifold and the combustion chamber will still get a lot of build-up.

Now, most importantly the real issue is the oil that is getting sucked through the engine and diluting the octane of the gas whether you use 87 or 93 octanes you are still suffering from poor combustion. This is the main cause of detonation and tripping knock sensors along with reduced Performance and MPG.

The majority of our customers will see 1 to 1.5 MPG increases on average and sometimes more or less depending on the amount of blow-by the engine has. I just want to share this as they are real-world results and many UPR Catch Can customers agree with this and have experienced it.

This is also the reason you will see us change or update the design over time as we continually improve the design and function over time. So while the competition is still trying to catch up to our old designs we are setting the bar higher and higher to deliver the very best catch can performance.
