I know I need to make the decision but looking for some of your thoughts.

Trying to decide if I should I upgrade to a set of 60’s now or put money in the stock axles hoping they hold up?

I just installed a set of 39” BFG KM3s. I was getting ready regear to 5.13’s, add a truss and some c gussets and chromoly axle shafts to make sure these axles will hold up.

I started thinking about and am wondering if it’s worth putting that money in these axles or just bite the bullet and go to 60’s now? As I’m going back and forth on this, I already know my next set will be 40’s.

The biggest hurdle has been cleared... the better half said just do it and don’t spend money on these axles and then upgrade to the 60’s in another year or so when I do break something.

Thoughts? How are the Ultimate 60’s? Any issues or concerns?

Just do it! I just got a UD44 up front. The quality is great and it's a bolt-on solution. With your future tire plans I'd just bite the bullet and do it. Probably want 538 gears.

Do you have the 3.6 or 2.0 engine? That 60 with 40s is going to be a lot of new weight to push around.

I have the 3.6. I hadn’t even thought about that. Wonder how these things are driving around with all the added weight?

I'm not sure but something to research for sure.

@rustyshakelford do you have any thoughts?
The axles are considered unslung weight. The 40s are a big tire. Best thing you can do to restore power is choosing a correct gear that matches the mod. For 40s, I like 5.38. Restores the power and has really nice drivability

If you have the cash for the 60s just do it man. Then you can sell your old axles and think of it as a rebate on those sweet 60s you're sitting on.

Well it’s a done deal. The UD 60’s will be installed in a couple weeks.

I decided to put the money for rehearing/truss/chromoly axles towards the purchase I’d the 60’s. Plus I’ll be able to sell my wheel, axles, Adams 1310 front drive shaft and put that the axles as well.

The best part, I will have complete confidence riding on 60’s now.

I ran 40's and 5.13's for 42000 miles before I went to UD60's. I love my UD60's brakes are bad ass... and they haven't skipped a beat for me...

Which Dana 60s are you talking about ud60s? Also upgrading to a d44 ultimate Dana 44 is not a good solution because it's still going to be spinning up front hence you're going to have to really be spot on with your caster meaning you can't lift it as high.
In my opinion going to anything that semi float is a waste of money you're going to do it do it right get full float Dana 60s.
