Upgrading to 8.4 Uconnect - any subscriptions needed?

Thinking about purchasing the upgrade online.

So I know you have to have the code to install - no biggie.

Is there any other subscription you have to purchase other than Sirius for this radio to work like from the factory?

I was going from 7" to 8.4

okay cool, other then Sirius there shouldn’t be any other subscriptions unless your adding NAV as well

I thought about this as well. Mostly because of the offroad pages, as we do not get that with the 7" screen. Although it could be possible it might be hard to find a dealer willing to flash it to your VIN. I could be totally wrong, however.

Most dealerships will do it the flashes to do the conversion , might cost you up too a couple hundred bucks .. depending on the dealership

Hey man. I did not. I read and read a bunch of posts and it seems that (atleast to me) the 8.4 isn't really worth it. I made my mind up because of the following.

1. The weather screen didn't show exact locations (Some people say that it would show notifications for 50 miles away).
2. More people complained that the 8.4 would just shut off and come back on.
3. The subscription is a tad more it seems than just regular SiriusXM.

Thanks for the update. I am on a 5” now so I need to move to at least the 7” for CarPlay. I just figured if I am investing why not the 8.4.

Yeah thats true. I am on the 7 now and haven't had any issue. In fact, I just hook my phone up for the NAV (which it looks like on the8.4 is buggy too) I think most people with the 8.4 do the same.
