Anyone have any info about concerns on upgraded audio systems? I installed a 400 watt amp and plan to add an additional 600 watt amp for an additional sub. According to Crutchfield they do not recommend exceeding a 30A rated amp which is barely anything.

I currently have the 400 watt amp in there now and while it's been working great, I have been getting some random Jeep connect emails about failures with the truck that seem to be false positives (electrical charging system, lamp on drive train etc). I'm concerned if this continues Jeep will point at the audio system... If anyone has any input on this I would appreciate it.

Specs:
2024 Wrangler JLU with upgraded Alpine system installed. Currently have the front speakers disconnected from stock system and being powered by Amp + 2nd Sub. Currently drawing all 400 watts RMS.

Thanks in advance

I’ve used to have twin CV strokers, powered by 2000watts rms of high quality amps, on a 125amp alternator.

The 4xe main battery can feed the 12v battery 200amps.

30amps is nothing for any modern vehicle, especially the 4xe.

If concerned you could always add a capacitor.

Thanks for the reply. I did recently add a 2nd amp @ 1500 watts and so far everything seems to be running smoothly. Currently at 150 amps when cranked to the max.

Keep in mind 1500 watts rms amp at max volume, is not even remotely close to pulling 1500 watts of power continuously.

A high quality 1500watt rms amp, at max volume, is probably drawing in around 400watts of power while listening to music.

Unless of course the music you listen to is a continuous test tone.

I have a 2024 Wrangler 4Xe……. Can you add an amplifier that has more than a 30amp fuse?

200amps would be your limit, so yeah, that’s really
This is good to know. Crutchfield was trying to sell me an amplifier with a 20 amp fuse, stating that the 4xe (hybrid) cannot accept anything more than 30 amps

I had added to my 4xe an amp that gets me 750w RMS which, depending on my mood powers a 12" Alpine shallow mount sub or occasionally an RF 15" (1 ohm). No issues so far except with a neighbor.

which amp do you have? (And model) I would like to change all the factory speakers and add a sub.

I only put an amp on the subwoofer. I did replace the dash and soundbar speakers with drop-ins, however. After sound deadening the top and installing Mopar headliners, the volume of the speakers was good enough.

For the sub, I did a Rockford Fosgate T750X1BD.
