Ok, I'm starting to think about maintenance. I'll be doing the Jeep Wave program free oil changes, but I'll also keep spares at home, such as a couple oil filters and air filters.

Does the new Pentastar still use the MO-744 oil filter? Also, what air filter and cabin filter does it use?

I'll likely switch over to a Fram Ultra Guard oil filter and Fram air filters, ultimately. I know the oil filter, if the same, is an XG11665. Does the JL 3.6 use the same air filter as the JK?

I'll run whatever synthetic oil my dealer specifies in those first oil changes, but will likely move to Mobil 1 EP or AP, after that.

I'll also be rotating all 5 tires. I'm 99% sure I'll switch over to 315/70/17 BFG KO2's in a "C" load rating, pretty quickly.

Basically, I'm just trying to see if they kept the gen 1 3.6 filters the same, or did they change them?

I would guess it would the same part as the Dodge Challenger, as that's the updated 3.6 engine used in the JL.

I'm looking at rockauto.com the Dodge Challenger has fewer filters but they do match the JK 3.6 filters.

I thought only the GC had the updated Pentatar so far.
Oooohhhh I think you're right. Whoops.

Have we determined what engine and cabin air filter the JL 3.6L runs?

I still can't seem to find a direct answer.

Can someone snap a picture of the engine air filter on their JL so we can verify the shape? I have seen a few different shapes for the Cherokee, JK, and alleged JL.

Are these not in the owner's manual that's been posted?

No part numbers. The engine air filter in the picture diagram in the manual doesn't look accurate either. There are likely different filters for the 2.0L turbo as well, and there is no indication in the manual of such.

I am looking for the 3.6L specifically.

I have searched every oil filter brand I can think of and also Mopar and Quadratec and cannot find a filter number for the new JL. It may be the same as the JK but I want to see it in writing.

Try searching for the 2016+ Grand Cherokee 3.6L oil filter as it's the same Pentastar Upgrade engine.

Yep, that's what I did. I'll run a Fram Ultra Guard. For the 2017 Grand Cherokee V6, it is the XG11665.

The oil filter changed in 2014. The "nipple" on the end was redesigned for better flow. Should be the same one used today I would think.

Does anyone know the Mopar oil filter part number for the JL 3.6? I want to be sure of it before cross-referencing for a Fram Ultra Guard.
