If you have a rubicon you can go 35’s. If you have a sport or Sahara after 285/70/17 you’ll start rubbing if you off-road.Hello,
Planning on buying new tires soon and was wondering how big in size can I go without needing a lift kit?
Thanks CJ. Guess I forgot to mention which Jeep I have. lol. I have a Sahara so it might just be in my best interest to install a lift kit after all if I want to get bigger tires. Good to know.If you have a rubicon you can go 35’s. If you have a sport or Sahara after 285/70/17 you’ll start rubbing if you off-road.

If you have the 8-speed auto and didn't reprogram for the new tire size, your shift points are also off. It will perform better when it's given accurate parameters.I just installed 305/55/R20 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. I did not add a lift since I don’t do any off roading (other than NYC potholes) No rubbing but speedometer seems to be off btw 3-5mph and probably is messing up my MPG. I noticed it lost 5 MPG. My estimate was based on driving along side a stock 2020 Willys on a 150 mile road trip. I’ll get everything recalibrated next time I go In for service. There are some everyday practicality issues that are lost with this size but I love the look of the stance with these rims and tires
Thanks for the tip!!! Definitely not mechanically inclined so this forum is great for advice. If you have the 8-speed auto and didn't reprogram for the new tire size, your shift points are also off. It will perform better when it's given accurate parameters.
