Here is what I do know:

my stock JL Sahara has 7.5” wheels that are 10” wide, sitting on +44mm offset.

I am looking at new wheels and tires (keep in mind the most off reading I will do is driving on a field to tailgate, or a field to fish as 99.9999% of the time my Jeep is highway/road bound)

optiOn A: 17x9 +18mm offset with 285/70R17 Toyo Open Country AT3 tires

option B: 20x9 +18mm offset with 275/60R20 Toyo OC AT3 tires

both A and B move the tire outside the fender by approximately 1.5”...if I did math right.

these configurations bring the tire width to 11” and increasing the size to 33’s (if my math is accurate)...is this an issue with the planned tire/wheel package being wider than the stock? I don’t want any rubbing during turning or such, and since I have the lifetime alignment with firestone, if I lift the Jeep that gets voided....so no plans to lift this puppy.

I am leaning towards option A. To get 5 new tires is ~1600. New tires and new wheels is $2100. Seems to make sense to do both if there is a wheel I like that would just enhance the overall pop of my Sahara.

5 new Toyo AT3 285/70/17s C-load rated would be $1100 here~

And Discount Tire and I believe Northridge 4x4 will price match

i may just do the tires on the stock wheels. just go to 275/70R18 Toyo's. The only extra fee then would be paying $125 to have the speedometer recalibrated for 33" tires...I know it's minimal, but after I got a ticket for doing 27 in a 25 2 years ago, i'd rather not take the chance since the ticket costs more than the calibration.

still toying around.

if I go 18x9 +18 offset, with 5.71 backspace. I believe the Toyo's I want to run are 11.2". There's a lot of information, some of which is difficult to decipher which is good information or misinformation.

Would this wheel and tire combination be appropriate to use on my stock Sahara JL? I know the wheel/tire will stick out approximately 1" which is fine...now I'm trying to decipher whether the backspacing would be clear as I recall reading that more backspacing isn't necessarily a good thing.

I'm not a fan of 17's as I really don't the look of a balloon looking tire, so I'm working on 18x9 and 20x9 wheels. Now it's ironing down the offset, which I think +15 to +25 would be good for the JL Sahara, and a better understanding of the backspacing and if there's such a thing as too much. From what I can gather, the stock wheel has 5.98" backspacing, and these that I'm looking at would be 5.71".

So.Many.Question. Hahah.

Would a 17x9 +18 offset Mayhem Warrior 8015 Wheel work with Nitto 33x12.5x17 tires on the Stock Sahara?

Probably have some rubbing. especially that plastic piece between the lower grill and bumper. If you want to run 33s or close to it a 285/70/17 will give you a bit more room. The 295/70/17s that I run worked ok too but rubbed a bit on that piece, but I have 8.5 +10 offset wheels.

spoke to someone At custom offsets. Recommends 285/70R17, and estimates awheel with +1mm to be about 1.5-1.75 outside fender on 17x9 wheels.

I am still researching to find Sahara’s with that wheel size and offset

Is there any reason why this wouldnt work on a stock Sahara JL? i keep coming back to 20's because of the look and my needs. I could probably even go down to 0 as I think this also include the tire bubble on the wheel.

Additionally, if a tire/wheel sit 2" outside the fender how much "gook" will that kick up? I'm within the legal limit at that point as well.

That pic in the previous post doesn't list your new wheel width, just offset, that's an important part that's missing.
I would use this site and include everything you can to get the best results.

new wheel width would be a 20x9. i'm on that link, but honestly I don't know what I'm looking at either (or for) to determine whether it would work or how it would look
