Hello everyone,

I have a similar issue as many.

I own a 2018 JL with the 5” Uconnect system (no navigation).

For about three weeks it worked fine. For the past few days, every time I connect my iPhone and play music (or talk) it restarts every three minutes or so and resets to 12:00. Tried to reset but didn’t work. Error keeps happening. Entered my VIN at the uconnect website and it says it is up to date.
What do I do?!

There are no issues if I play music through Bluetooth. Tried both USB ports and I changed the lightning cables as well. Problem is still there... :(

So far some have reported issues with Uconnect, you may try to do a soft reset on the Uconnect system

Hi NYmadferit,

We're sorry to hear about this concern, as we understand how frustrating it must be to have difficulties with a new vehicle. Have you brought this to the attention of your dealer? Please send us a message if additional assistance is needed while your vehicle is in service.

I’m a little disappointed as I can’t do anything. My dealer is far and I don’t know when I’ll be able to go. That sucks.

Dealers can't do anything about this anyways. This is an issue with UConnect and iPhones. Unless your dealership can randomly code and push an update to your vehicle on the spot, you're out of luck.

That’s crazy. Would they replace it?

They might, but it won’t fix the issue. This is a software issue that they need to resolve through a software update. Replacing the stereo with the same one might temporarily resolve this issue, but will eventually continue to happen.

Again, that’s so crazy. Thanks for the reply. It really sucks. I keep trying it to see if it goes away. (I know.... I know). And ofcourse it doesn’t. About a minute after I plug my usb and playing a song, restart and resetting all settings. What a bummer.

I got a response: “try a different phone”.

What?! I only have one phone.

So as ridiculous as that was, I did try a different phone and the same thing happened.

Different generation iPhone.
This is an iPhone issue with UConnect. I've tried 4 different iPhones and it does the same thing. Plugged in a Galaxy S8 and it worked fine. A dealership's response will be "it does't support iPhone" which is a cop out response. It's crazy to believe that a vehicle in 2018 doesn't support the single most popular smartphone on the market and it would be idiotic for them to not support it. They need to push a UConnect software update to provide support for iPhones.

That’s a crazy response. And a crazy issue.
I have an appointment with the dealer next week. Should I even bother?!
