Last week I had the software of my Jeep updated (for continuing issues with the back-up camera guidelines, and incorrect temperature readings on the dashboard), and now I'm getting constant audio warnings each time I change to neutral when going over 35mph.

The warning I get says that I cannot switch to 1st gear (which I'm not trying to do).

I spoke to the dealer, and they are telling me that because I'm running the latest version, they cannot switch me to an older one, or have a way to turn off the warning. I asked the dealer when the new version will come out with the fix, and they said that they don't know. They added that since the update they applied is very recent, they don't expect an update to be available for sometime.

So now it looks like during my 50mile daily commute will also include 30-40 warnings. This is unacceptable!!!

JEEP, Why can't you make updates that can be rolled back????

Thanks for the heads up. I get that warning whenever I go above 4,000 RPMs. I was planning on getting an update to fix it next time I went in. Sounds like I should hold off.

Does the warning only come on if coasting in neutral above 35mph, or does it also do it anytime you shift without stopping in neutral?
It only beeps once after shifting to neutral from any gear as long as you are going over 35mph.
Since it only beeps once, if you are coasting on neutral you will not hear the warning until the next time you change to it again.

The first few times I heard it, I thought that I was going to be able to live with it.
Now I'm not so sure; it's starting to drive me crazy. Not sure if it the error that drives me crazy, or the fact that Jeep does not test for these issues before releasing an update.

If you are having an issue, I would first figure out if it is something you can live with.
If you can live with the issue, stay with the current version. By the reports I'm seeing, it looks like Jeep cannot release a proper software update.

If you would like to get it fixed, I would suggest going through the list of known issues of previous releases with your dealer. Find out which ones you can live with, and update to that version. Good luck!

In that case I’m not sure I’d ever get a warning. The only time I’m in neutral is right before coming to a stop and while stopped. Other than that it’s always in gear. I’m an ex-truck driver so I’m used to downshifting for stopping, etc. as a big rig needs the assistance for stopping.

I switch to neutral as soon as I notice traffic piling up, or a red light that I will need to stop at. I guess I could start downshifting until I'm below 35mph to avoid the warning, but that seems more of a hassle. I like driving manual transmissions, but not that much!

@JeepCares - is there an update or solution for the CEL code, "P1CEA" - Boost Side EVAP Purge System Performance

I have read this is a rather common code for the EVAP system on the Fiat based turbo charged motors. Just looking for some insight before I take my Jeep in and to be told we can not replicate the issue. NOTE: I have had this code pop up twice in the last 1200 miles, both times I scanned/deleted the code with no change in performance or economy.

Thanks

The two biggest reasons or arguments I always hear for a manual transmission.
A manual transmission is more fun
A manual transmission allows me to have more control and do what I want to do not what the automatic transmission computer wants me to do.

What you’re describing with this beeping does not sound fun or you have any more control over the vehicle than a Automatic. Interesting.

I don't mind driving manual transmission as long as I don't run into traffic. The reason why I got a manual, it was not because of the "control" or the "feeling". It was because when I got mine (early March 2018), there were not many available at the dealer, and it was $2000 less than the automatic version that was in backorder.

I have the stick as well. If I'm slowing from speed I prefer to down shift to at least 20 mph before pushing in the clutch if stopping. Feel I'm using less brake and feels more natural to me...

I feel the same way about the clutch. I feel like by shifting the way I do, I will be able to extend the life of the clutch, and may get a very insignificant advantage at the pump.

I guess we all have different ways of doing it. Neither is incorrect, and both both should work without any problems or issues.

Well i used to a big downshifter. Then i was told the correct way is to slow down with your brakes and just pull out of gear before you start lugging. No downshifting unless you need it. They said it wears the clutch. Comment was do i want to replace brake pads or clutch?

Just goes to show there is more than one right way i guess.

Please post the version number. You can see it via engineering mode.
