Unable to order a manual transmission

My husband and I went to order a new 2020 Jeep Sahara today and the dealership told us that they are unable to order the 23G for Wranglers and Gladiators. But they were not able to give us anymore information than that at the time. Does anyone know why FCA is not taking orders for manual transmissions? I have to say I’m very disappointed right now. I was really looking forward to having a manual again.

What engine? I think you can only get the manual with the base 3.6L V6. If you are trying to get either of the e-torque engines, or the diesel, than no 3rd pedal for you

Lol. It was the base 3.6L V6. The manual was the reason I was going with the V6. 2 days ago it was available. Today it wasn’t. The dealership had called their Chrysler rep but hadn’t heard back when we were there. Fingers crossed that it is just a temporary thing.

Wow! I hadn’t heard about this. Thanks for sharing the link. That could definitely explain why they put the manual transmissions on hold without any info. Can’t imagine that’s something they would want to advertise.

Probably a glitch - we've seen several people have issues ordering what they want over the last few years. I doubt the few manual fires have anything to do with it. Have your dealer try again, and if they still have issues, try a different dealer.

Maybe it's because it's the Sahara package? Just my guess since they also took away the 2 door option for Sahara since they want it and their more luxurious line up.

I can verify that I tried to order a Manual Wrangler for a customer the other day and none are available in any trims. Jeep hasn't said anything yet about a recall on the Manuals. My Chrysler rep simply said that the manual sales are down so they were suspending orders and focusing on automatics for inventory since that is what most people are buying. He is looking into dates for me though so I will update this thread as soon as I know more.

I just called the Jeep Dedicated JL Wrangler Customer Care number (1-866-362-2146) to inquire about the issue with ordering manual transmissions. The person that I spoke with said that they just got an update about it this morning. They said it was due to a parts shortage. No ETA on when the part(s) will be available. They said just to call back every week or two to get an update.
