Unable to order 2020 JLUR with V6.

Need premium to get the advertised mpg out of the 2.0. That makes the 3.6l cheaper on gas. There are quite a few threads on here discussing this.

The 3.6 V6 in the JL wrangler is not quite the same 3.6 V6 that was in the 2012-2018 JK Wranglers.

It is not the same 'tried and true' design. Besides, for Chrysler, 'tried and true' doesn't mean a hell of a lot. Does anyone remember the 3.8 V6? lol

Well yes, but it’s an upgrade vs a new engine.

As of today, 7/27/19, my local dealer says they only able to order 2020MY JLU with the four cylinders right now. I want the six JLUR and they don’t know when they can order it. Anyone out there experienced the same?

I ordered my Black JLUR with the 3.6 on 7-16-2019 and have not heard any issues as of yet. I figured I may have a problem since I ordered my jeep with the One-touch Sky Roof. If notified of a problem, I'll be sure to post.

Hmmm. Told my dealer I heard the 3.6 couldn't be ordered on a 2020, and he tried and was able to do so. We wondered if perhaps OP and others were trying to get it on a model other than the Rubi?

The sales manager tried to order again today and yes now we can get the V6 but only with the manual trans. I need auto trans so my wife can drive too sometime.

2.0 got slightly better mpg than the 3.6, but it required to use high octane. Will the mpg difference worth to pay more for the premium fuel?

This is just the start of the 2020's I would think around 9/1 the auto will be available let your cash draw interest for another month or so. Just remember happy wife happy life all good things come in time .

If the next phone call from my dealer is “sorry, you can’t have a manual transmission because jeep ran outta pentastars” sorry jeep, I’ll be taking my money elsewhere.

Ok who am I kidding, I’ll probably give in and order a gladiator at that point.

Yeah, we going to pay cash for it so no rush. My previous Wrangler was 2000MY TJ with manual. This time I want auto so the wife can drive too. “Happy wife happy life”

When I ordered my 2019 in October 2018, one dealer couldn't get the order to go through with the 3.6. Later that day they called me and said they could place the order. I went to another dealer instead who had no problem ordering a 2019 3.6 Auto. She explained to me she had to mark the order as a SOLD order when placing it in their system, to make the 3.6 Auto available. It may be the same issue. But Jeep could be diverting more 3.6 Autos to the Gladiators for now, since there aren't nearly as many Gladiators on dealer lots than Wranglers.

He did said he tried to order as a sold item. But still unable to get the 3.6 with auto trans. Maybe you are right about diverting parts to the Gladiators.

They went from a $1000 upcharge for the 2.0 to charging $2k more for the V6 in 2020. That should tell you that there is something going on. For an engine that’s pushing almost 10 years old, there shouldn’t be part shortages. Any delays in production are basically meant to force the 2.0 out into buyers hands.

My company supplies all of the milling. cutter tools for the 3.6. Production is the same as it always was for one of the best engines ever designed and. built. These engines go into Maseratis and Alfa Romeos as well as Jeeps and Chryslers. Most of the engines are made at the Trenton (MI) engine plant, and others are made in Saltillo, Mexico. There should be no shortages that I know of. They keep buying tools at the same rate as before.
