3 issues with Uconnect in order of frequency

1. Off road pages does not display position/altitude - this is a permanent problem

2. When iPhone plugged in using center console port CarPlay lasts for a few minutes then disconnects while phone is still plugged in and still charging.

3. Backup camera sometimes stays on after being put in reverse then drive. Have to X out when it doesnā€™t switch back. Also sometimes backup camera lines disappear.
Hi Patinito,
We are sorry to hear about your multiple concerns. If you decide to have your dealer address this, we would be happy to add an additional layer of assistance to this process!

Geez! As I was reading your post I thought perhaps our Jeeps are twins separated at birth! Mine has identical issues.

Fixing stupid....
2 day with my 2019 JLUS, my 8.4 locked up completely. Shutting off, and restarting did nothing.

I tried disconnecting the batter grounds. This rebooted the 8.4, but when it came back, i could not change the climate control temp.

I finally remembered seeing this thread before i took delivery.

I checked every fuse under the hood and was able to push ALL of them in at least 2 - 3 mm further.

After making sure all fuses were seated properly, all of my issues went away. Everything has been perfect for 2 weeks now.

2018 Jeep Wrangler, plugged phone into usb slot, after that radio would turn self on an off as often as every 30 seconds, sometimes could go 5 to 10 minutes before it would reboot. Got Blue Screen of Death, like on a computer a hand full of times... jeep has 18,000 km on it 1 year old... was told this is a known issue, there is no known fix at this time, Chrysler will not replace under warranty, disconnected my own battery 2 times to try to set back to factory settings, look like dealer did the same thing, they are quoting FCA Star Online Publication S18080000198 which is about the presets, however this is not my problem. Luckily past 24 hours no issue.. Past 2 weeks couldnt drive a km without resetting making the centre console useless, couldnt change channels, couldnt control volume, couldnt adjust temperture, couldnt use hands free phone, couldnt use navigation and was driving home from Toronto from Washington DC, kinda important. Very upset at the moment, 2nd jeep and families 6th jeep, 3 Wranglers, 2 Cherokees and 1 Patriot.... To be told cant be fixed, they are working on a software upgrade, is BS... You pay for the alpine upgrade, you pay for Sirius and your radio doesnt work and 60,000 tax in for Sahara, I will not likely be purchasing a 7th unit for the family.

Wow this thread is sad. Iā€™m having the same issue with the 5ā€ uconnect. It will also happen when Iā€™m driving making a sharp right. Iā€™ll check fuses and hopefully my issue lies there. If not....

Haven't read the whole thread so I'm sorry if these have been mentioned, but:

1. If having issues with anything plugged in (carplay) make sure you try a different cable, or 2 or 3. These things short out very easily, and while the cable might be able to charge, a data connection could be an issue

2. Seat your fuses! I just took delivery less than 2 weeks ago and at least 70% of my fuses clicked when I pressed on them!

Anyways, to those that the above doesn't help, I wish you luck on getting your issue resolved :)
I had same issues with CarPlay and put a new Apple USB cable in the console connections and fixed my problems.

Just bought a 2 door 2018 wrangler with the 5" uconnect 2 days ago and this happened today. Thankfully i found this forum to let me know its a reoccurring issue with numerous JL's. I also find it ironic that jeeps official account is called "jeep cares" and from what i can tell, they haven't cared to fix this known issue for 2 years now.

See my thread in this section titled "OMG it's fixed".

I went through the exact same crap for 10 months, was in the service department probably 4 or 5 times before I just gave up on it, even had a replacement head unit installed (did nothing). I noticed when I had some accessory plugged into the USB port in the center console (not a phone, don't recall what it was), that it was getting intermittent power from the USB port. I finally got the dealer to replace the USB port assembly in the center console. Immediately fixed all of my issues.

Should mention that none of my USB ports provided proper operation, but replacement of the center console USB fixed all of the issues in all of the USB ports.

Hey everyone, so after mine shut off again I started running some tests and it seems that the CPU in these uconnect canā€™t handle working with all the programs that packed into it in addition to a phone. My current tests:

1. All fuses are secured (control for fuses)
2. Phone not connected, drive for 2 weeks, test for problems (my findings, no phone connected both Bluetooth and usb no problem)
3. Cycle through Bluetooth, Sirius XM, radio, while adjusting volume and see if radio starts running behind (CPU test) especially near start up. If you notice long delays like I do itā€™s indicated a CPU issue.
4. Start driving with phone connected (USB or Bluetooth) and record instances it happens (my findings it happens often and shortly following)

My conclusion is the CPU canā€™t keep up with the phones and their uconnect base processes. But since this would be an expensive fix, potentially a recall, and itā€™s annoying vs endangering the driver, I doubt Jeep ever fixes it vs putting us through the ringer with dealers ā€œnot knowing how to fix itā€ and nothing ever getting resolved until our warranties expire.

Mother of God will this thing just work for once. My 5" uconnect is power cycling agian. plug my phone in to listen to music and it pops and resets back to factory settings. They have replaced it once (supposedly) after several trips to the dealer. The dealer always said that they couldn't re-create the problem ha ha! Hopefully this time I don't need to have video evidence and a ride along.
That certainly sounds frustrating, BrandonB00. Have you set an appointment with your dealer again to diagnose this? We do recommend an appointment at your earliest convenience and if you need assistance, please send us a private message.

Are the dealerships aware of this issue? I am sitting here now and when I was telling the service guy about the issue, he seemed shocked. I can't be the only one in my town who has brought my Jeep in for this issue. This is the only Jeep dealership within 100 miles. I just bought my Jeep and it started the issue as I left the dealership.

Hey, jpchick. Unfortunately, I cannot speculate on that and do recommend that you continue to work with them for further diagnosis.

Thanks. They did a software update (one that wasnā€™t showing needed to be done) and it has fixed the issue!!
