Uconnect/Stereo issues: turns off and restarts for no aparent reason

Worst case you could disconnect the battery(s) but that will cause EVERYTHING to reset itself & you have to make sure to do it properly. Ours thankfully fixed itself after a few drive cycles.
You can do the 12v power kill to the while vehicle or simply, just pull fuse F11 and the radio will reboot, just as if you did the 12v power kill to the whole vehicle. Also, the Tazer JL programmer has the ability to reboot the radio.

and yes, usually will correct itself in a day or so, even if you do nothing to make it happen sooner ....to force a reboot.

I had my radio updated last August and am getting the newest update installed this afternoon (dealer told me it became available 11/08/18) Has anyone had any luck fixing this ridiculous iPhone usb problem??

I’ve continued to have all sorts of problems with my infotainment system. I’ve had the unit replaced once, so I’m not optimistic about getting any of it resolved. I’m so tired of spending all my time at the service department or driving around in stripped down loaners while they chase all the electrical problems I’ve had. CarPlay randomly disconnects, radio goes from Satellite to FM when it feels like it (but not the other way around), and some days the CarPlay just won’t boot up. Uconnect works randomly - I’ve stopped thinking I can rely on any of these bells and whistles.

Same issues on my 2015 Grand Cherokee and my 2018 Rubi. My Rubi has the 7” system. Randomly restarts, randomly stays in back up camera mode, sometimes does nothing at all for about 2 min then fully reboots.

Not sure it’s worth taking to the dealership or not.

Not exactly the same...but definitely been having intermittent UConnect issues, which drives me nuts.....

Randomly UConnect will freeze, I can hit buttons, but volume stays, clock stops at the time it freezes, and no sound. Turn it off and on nothing. Came home, parked it, read about a few different things to try, nothing. Came back inside, called the dealer to see how long a wait it would be for them to take a look at it, and when I jump back in....everything works fine.

Had that happen a few times, tried the battery disconnect, fuses, and it still does it randomly. Of course it may work fine for a week, I forget about it again, and then it happens.

I suspect the PM is to keep the negative comments out of the public eye.

My stereo is the 8.4" with Navigation and the Alpine Speakers/subwoofer system. After 5 months of ownership with ZERO issues has started shutting off and then restarting itself as if I am turning it and off while in use. So far it has just been annoying but I can see if I was navigating or using the hands free how this could cause numerous issues.

I haven't been able to find any obvious issue like loose wires or power issues that would explain this? There are no warning lights or other indicators of an issue. I want to note also that the electrical system and stereo is completely stock, unaltered or added to at this point...

Is anyone else having this issue? I saw somewhere that there was an issue with the Uconnect system, is this what they were referring to?

We are having the same issue and we have a 2017 Wrangler Saraha. It has been in the shop 4 times now. On the third time they replaced the stereo but the very next day the same issue occurred. It shuts off randomly. Sometimes multiple times (as many as 10) in a day and then it can go days without doing it at all...….. very frustrating!

3 issues with Uconnect in order of frequency

1. Off road pages does not display position/altitude - this is a permanent problem

2. When iPhone plugged in using center console port CarPlay lasts for a few minutes then disconnects while phone is still plugged in and still charging.

3. Backup camera sometimes stays on after being put in reverse then drive. Have to X out when it doesn’t switch back. Also sometimes backup camera lines disappear.

I received a call back from you guys and you basically told me “nothing could be done”, I was told to drive straight to the dealer as soon as it happens so the computer can see it happening?? How ridiculous is that!!! So basically wait for a “random” problem to occur and drop everything and race to a dealership...because bringing it in twice for same issues and having a ton of video evidence is not sufficient enough.... you guys literally told me to just live with my faulty uconnect because there’s nothing you can do....

Haven't read the whole thread so I'm sorry if these have been mentioned, but:

1. If having issues with anything plugged in (carplay) make sure you try a different cable, or 2 or 3. These things short out very easily, and while the cable might be able to charge, a data connection could be an issue

2. Seat your fuses! I just took delivery less than 2 weeks ago and at least 70% of my fuses clicked when I pressed on them!

Anyways, to those that the above doesn't help, I wish you luck on getting your issue resolved :)
