Same issue here. Started this past weekend during a road trip to Seattle (we live in Portland). Nav always starts us from our home address and fumbles around for the first 10 minutes then corrects itself. Happened to my phone, then the same with my wife’s phone which had never been connected in this car.

Add this to the permanent “auto start/stop system unavailable” message that has never gone away. And the periodic inability to hear CarPlay volume when switching over from the radio... or the faint nav volume when it does work.
Hi donaldbyrd.

We are sorry to hear that you have these concerns with your JL. We recommend visiting your servicing Jeep dealer to have these concerns addressed. Please send us a private message if you are in need of an additional layer of assistance.

For the faint navigation volume issue, it's ridiculous but you have to adjust the volume knob WHILE navigation is speaking to you. The vehicle recognizes two volumes: one for the media playing and one for navigation directions. It's stupid, but I think this is actually a CarPlay issue rather than a Jeep issue, as it's the same in our other cars as well.

I’ve been having the issue since day 1. I chalked it up waiting early adopter pains and assumed that a software update would fix it. Unfortunately it’s still going even after iOS 12. It usually corrects itself after about 10 minutes, which was tolerable when I lived Phoenix. I just relocated to Seattle and 10 minutes can mean ending up on the wrong side of the city. Interestingly enough, it keeps thinking I’m back in Phoenix. I can tell the GPS is screwed up because it shows the AZ time zone, instead of Seattle’s. This is before I even plug my phone in.

I got off the phone with customer service this week and they said they had never heard of the problem before. It would be nice if there was a way to get this escalated to @JeepCares right away. Very frustrating.

Can we download this update?? Or can you push it to us? I do not have the time to take it into service until after the new year....

I had my Jeep at the dealer today and had this done.

I gave the service writer a print out of Jeep Care’s post. No one at the dealer had heard of this problem and they all seemed a little confused. They eventually asked me to demonstrate the problem - when I used Apple Maps it showed my position in Ohio - I’m in California.

Then they finally found and applied the update. So far it seems to have fixed the issue. It’s too soon to tell for sure but the update may have solved my other issues with UConnect too. It is now showing the correct time (used to show Eastern time) and the compass usually didn’t work correctly.

It took about 45 minutes to download the update and another 45 minutes to install it.

Mine always starts me out from my office location, no matter where I’m at. After I For I’ve a bit, it usually recalculated to the correct location. I believe it to be an Apple maps problem.

Does Maps work correctly when it is not plugged in?

That’s how I could tell it was CarPlay. It worked fine until I would plug it in and then both the phone and the UConnect screen showed the wrong location. All seems to be working fine for me now after the update.

I tow my JLU with my motor home. Every time I tow it to a new location Apple CarPlay will show us located where I last used maps when I plug in my iPhone. The iPhone shows my actual location until I plug it in to the Jeep. Which is usually hundreds of miles away. I have finally figured out after hours of frustrating trial and error. Here is my “fix”:
On the iPhone go to Settings, tap General, scroll down to Reset, tap Reset, scroll down and tap “Reset Location & Privacy”
I then open either apple maps or google maps, pick a random destination nearby and nagivgate there. The iPhone is showing the correct location and the blue line to the destination. Now I plug the iPhone into the Jeep while the engine is running, give a few seconds to start up CarPlay and then press “go” on the UConnect screen.

Follow-up to my prior post. Two things:

First I mentioned an issue with start/stop unavailable message always being there - problem solved here.

Second, the dealer didn't see any specific issues with the radio that would always cause it to start from my house, but updated the radio anyway with the latest patch - i assume it's the one that's referenced above - and it's worked fine since.

Can't thank Lithia Jeep of Portland enough.

Same thing has happened to me. Downloaded Waze app and it worked great until I tried to use it again. Now both Waze and iPhone maps put me in wrong location while I’m plugged into Jeep.

So disappointed that this has happened.

I purchased my Jeep new on Thursday the 4th, used Carplay to take a trip to Yakima, WA on 4/5-4/7, and now it keeps saying I'm in Yakima. I love this vehicle, but this makes me sad! I have an appointment with the dealership next Friday, but it didn't sound like anything they had heard of before. Any advice?

I took my Jeep to the dealership today and they didn’t know how to fix it. They told me to call Uconnect for help. When I plug my phone in and try to use the GPS, it shows that I’m in Ohio, when I live in california. The dealership tech plugged in his personal phone and it also showed that he was in Ohio. This has been going on since day one and I now have 5k miles.
