It does. I try to keep things in perspective. Beautiful weather in Northern VA today. So I shrugged it off, departed the dealership with top back and windows down, and tried to enjoy the drive home. (And then I heard that friggin clicking noise again). šŸ˜†
That sucks, I had to keep on them for months to get them to say it was not normal. The turbo engine is loud, it sounds more like a diesel then my 3.0 duramax in my GMC. But that is not the sound, once that gets through to them theyā€˜ll fix it. Keep trying. There isnā€™t a TSB but thanks to great people on this forum there is a Star case.

Thanks. I pointed to the existing Star case, and others having same issue, but to no avail. They said they couldnā€™t find anything in the ā€œservice library.ā€

Update on mine. Took to the dealer. They said it was a bad solenoid and hose....this was not the case as the noise is still there.

"surging valve may be sticking, recirculating hose leaking causing unused boost pressure to vent into atmosphere instead of recirculating back into intake. ordered parts"

I am taking it back next week. Just wanted to give you guys the update in case anyone else is told those are the issues, they are indeed not the problem.

Thanks to everyone who's provided updates on their end in the effort to get these issues resolved!

Well...swing and a miss.

Had my service appointment today. The service tech and foreman both acknowledged that my turbo had the clicking noise on deceleration. But after they compared it with 2 ā€œstock units,ā€ they assessed the clicking noise as normal. It was also noted that my Jeep displayed no error codes, and they cited the absence of any current TSBs.

But hey, they did agree to fix my sun visor which was dangling by a string when I dropped it off.

Iā€™ve reached out to JeepCares for help.
I dropped mine off this morning to begin work, just in time too as she was is starting to feel a bit sluggish.

I can't believe that they wouldn't even take a look at it. What do they mean by "stock units"? Did you have them look at this thread? That is what I did at the second place I took her into. Gave them this information, told the advisor to tell the techs to go directly to the turbos actuator and they will find it. Advisor said that the information (videos and photos of repair receipts) were a huge help.

This is who I am working with:
Wayne
JeepWave/SRT/RamCare Case Manager
Phone 844.533.7928
Ext 4061578

I have mentioned to him that this is an ongoing issue with many people and the techs simply aren't aware of it. He has also been in communication with the tech at my service department so he would be your best source.

Glad they are taking care of you; that's a good sign (hopefully for me, and others as well).

I'm assuming by "stock units," they meant 2.0T Wranglers on the lot. Their rationale: we agree its making the noise, but others are doing it too, so it must be normal. I haven't noticed any impact on performance (yet), but it has definitely gotten louder over time - to the point where my neighbors can hear the clicking as I come down the street. How that is normal, I have no idea.

I showed them the video from this thread, and provided my own narrative to explain what others have experienced, and referenced the remedy (new turbo). I was a little surprised they didn't pick up the phone and call their regional service rep, or seek out some form of centralized guidance. I was left with a feeling that they really don't want to do the work, or make the extra effort to get it right.

I do have a case manager. Last I heard, they were waiting for my dealer to call them back.

Thanks for the info. Hope all goes well with yours.

Mine is also a 2018. So I guess the question is, is this a 2018 problem or have others just not experienced it yet because they arenā€™t as used yet. Iā€™m thinking the former...
2019 and I have this exact problem. Has driven me nuts!

Test drove the 2.0L and the 3.6 yesterday with the wife before putting in the order.

During the 2.0L test drive my wife kept saying what is that rattling noise, I did not hear rattling, just the high pitch noise of the 2.0L Turbo working real hard to squeeze performance out of a tiny engine.

So maybe it is one of those things that some notice and others don't.

Update:
I was sent a video of the problem part. I was told this piece is the waste gate.

@JeepCares How do I bypass my dealership and get this fixed without the months of back-and-fourth conversations? I'm still under warranty, but this is about six levels above my local dealerships diagnosing capabilities.

I have 9300 currently and noticed it probably around 7000 or so. Took it to my dealer for it and mine transmission. They wrote off the turbo as normal and reflagged my transmission but Iā€™m still having clunking there when the trans temp is below 130Ā°.
Hey, jason0341. Sorry for the delay here, but if you are still experiencing concerns, send our team a private message.

Hi, AnnDee4444. Unfortunately, there isn't a way to bypass a dealership regarding repairs. Since they are our eyes and ears in the field, we rely heavily on their expertise and furthermore, our team is not comprised of trained technicians. That said, if you would like us to provide a list of dealers near you that you can choose from, follow up with us in private message.

@thetooke did they (assuming this was the service department providing the video) advise what part is depicted? And are they replacing with a new turbo, or attempting to fix/replace the "problem part?"

I've yet to hear back from my case specialist (5 days).

The video was provided by the service department. That part depicted is the waste gate. The turbo as a whole is being replaced.

Update:
Just got it back and the rattle is no more. I got the power back I remember while accelerating and a soft purring when I let off the gas.

Thanks to the guys at Grapevine Jeep service department for taking the time to hear me out, look over this thread, and truly diagnose the problem when I came in to fix this issue.

See image of invoice for another point reference.
