Don't feel bad my girl... eh er battery turned me down when I asked for a cold start this evening to go to dinner. Apparently, going to dinner wasn't good enough to charge her juices, and I got nothing when I asked her to go home. Both times, I tapped her sister for some action, because I maintain two.

It's too late in the day and I'm too tired to interpret what this means. 🤣

I'm feeling like a negligent owner and also like a dark cloud is following me.

My first gen Genesis dual battery sucks. It has a constant drain with that crazy solenoid drawing power. It has killed 2 or 3 $400 Odyssey batteries. I'm ready to frizbie the top plate circuit in the trash and just put in a single large battery. This thing has been much less reliable than a single battery system and unimagineably expensive. Yes, I've done parasitic drain tests on the jeep.

Also, I'm getting occasional death wobble. I'm thinking of hiring a fulltime mechanic. ...oh, that's me. shit!

Should we both be selling? Are we Bronco people now? 🤣

I was hoping the trickle charger would keep this battery healthy but I guess not. Despite the error it did start up right away but it does seem like the voltage is lower than it should be.

Hearing about the death wobble was a surprise. You have all quality parts on there so there's no reason anything should be failing. I would have suspected I'd be getting DW before you did.

The best dual battery set up I had I fabricated in an early 2000s GMC Sierra 4x4 because the second battery tray was already there from the factory. I used a Blue Sea magnetic latching relay and some 2/0 wire and didn’t even bother with the electrical switch at first since there is a mechanical one on the relay anyway. Not cheap, but fool proof. But these electrical systems have a lot more going on now,

Get a DC-DC charger. Battery isolators were never very good at charging auxiliary batteries, and even Genesis has finally moved to DC-DC chargers with their latest models.

I did the similar on a 2008 Chevy PU. But used a Painless Performance charging regulator and never added a cable to tie into the system. Lazy. When I needed the spare, I either used jumpers or swapped the batteries.

One issue with the Genesis is that it requires group 25 batteries, which are basically only avaiable special order and very limited makers at high prices.

I have the Gen 3 top plate NIB in the garage. Is this a DC-DC system?

Unfortunately, no. But the Gen 3 supposedly doesn't have nearly the parasitic draw of earlier versions.
After watching their video on the Gen 3, I suppose I should buy the Engine On sense cable to patch the charge function. Phew. Sometimes I feel like I'm funding higher learning for the aftermarket entrepreneurs and they are taking us along to class each semester.

Yeah. I had two AGM group 34/78 batteries with terminals top and side. If only.

Well, $758 and I have two new FullRiver batteries and the "optional" cable that makes it charge correctly on the way.

If anyone is looking for these batteries, the best price I could find was through Continental Battery Systems here in California. They seem to have distributors throughout the US. Basically it was $338 ea for the FT750-25 batteries to their store in Anaheim. Seems to be the jobber pricing. If you buy from other sources like Genesis, you get to pay shipping, which for me, that would be another $89 on top of their $770 for the batteries. The choice was easy.

I guess I should hardwire a trickle charger in. Best brand trickle chargers?

I have the gen 3 top, just needed some new batteries. The Gen 1/2 was hard on the batteries.
