Yes, indeedy! Is it ok like this?

Much appreciated. Where to actually hook on the negative clamp has been up for debate for the past 4 hours so happy to put that to rest.Yes, indeedy!
With the charger clamp connected like you first had it, between the battery terminal/post and the IBS ("current sensor"), the charge current doesn't travel through the IBS (it's basically bypassed), so the IBS doesn't know the battery is being charged.Much appreciated. Just for educational purposes why does putting it on the post keep the IBS calibrated as opposed to where I had it before? The Noco manual wants me to ground it to the frame but I think that's just so if it sparks the potential for fumes to ignite is less?

Now that it's hooked up how long should I expect for it to be fully charge and just be maintaining? Jeep was last driven on 12/9 but I did turn it over a few days ago for about 20 minutes but did not drive it.
Thanks for that explanation. I guess I'll check back in a few hours. It's been charging for about 2 hours now and still blinking less than 25%.With the charger clamp connected like you first had it, between the battery terminal/post and the IBS ("current sensor"), the charge current doesn't travel through the IBS (it's basically bypassed), so the IBS doesn't know the battery is being charged.

[It's even worse if there's an AUX (ESS) battery connected, because the IBS will think the charge current to the AUX (ESS) battery is a discharge current for the CR[an]K/main battery (while both batteries are actually being charged).]
When you moved the charger clamp, the IBS ("current sensor") is between the charger clamp and the battery terminal/post so the IBS can track how much the battery is charged.

Yes, I believe the body/frame ground suggestion is for spark safety when first attaching the clamp (rarely an issue). A body/frame ground position for the charger negative clamp does allow the IBS to properly track charging.
How long the battery takes to charge depends on how discharged it is, which is hard to guess. Unless your battery was really discharged for some reason, a 5 Amp NOCO charger should show the green light indicator within a couple hours max.
Hmm? This is a bit weird. Thanks for that explanation. I guess I'll check back in a few hours. It's been charging for about 2 hours now and still blinking less than 25%.
I just went out to check and it is still flashing below 25% and it's been over 4 hours so maybe something is wrong. I'm not sure if I should let it keep going or just unplug it all together.Hmm? This is a bit weird.
As some are aware we have 2 CTEK 3600, 1 NOCO 5, 3 NOCO 7200, and 1 NOCO 10. We use them all 24/7 365 days a year. The 2 CTEKs are a bit long in the tooth as they predate NOCO. They were top of the line smart back in the day. Being recommended and rebranded sold by Porsche.
Now for charging after 2 hours with less than 25% blinking. Seems that your battery was not charged or jeep driven immediately beforehand. Since whenever we hook up using the NOCO 5 on our Jeep aux alone - it goes through the charging stages and cycles in about 40s max.
Yeah we are an outlier who has been charging our jeep batteries separately. Weird but it works 100% a charm for us after 7 years running original 2018 OEM many deemed crap batteries.
Anyways as a suggestion - maybe properly load test your batteries as well. But do whatever you want. It is your jeep.
Well after using all these various 4 smart chargers for decades now - have learned a bit about some of their charge mode individual idiosyncrasies. So one will charge - where another will not. In some cases absolutely not. In some cases absolutely. Just depends which one we hook up. So have concluded each one has a slightly different charge profile and protocol.I just went out to check and it is still flashing below 25% and it's been over 4 hours so maybe something is wrong. I'm not sure if I should let it keep going or just unplug it all together.
edit: I disconnected the Noco and I'll have to deal with it tomorrow when it's light out. Jeep does start up just fine. As a side note I don't have an AUX just the main battery.
Is it the @SadRobot curse, or is @Terrymo playing some elaborate prank on you?I just went out to check and it is still flashing below 25% and it's been over 4 hours so maybe something is wrong. I'm not sure if I should let it keep going or just unplug it all together.

If you don't have a 15 amp charger, this is your opportunity to just have one purchase/ine device. All modern battery chargers will trickle charge.Well this just has to last me a few months so I don’t need anything too powerful. Just enough to keep it from draining.
In this case, I hope not. I think she’s at her wits end with the continuing Jeep drama.
Any sane person would have offloaded this Jeep years ago so I really don't know what's wrong with me.In this case, I hope not. I think she’s at her wits end with the continuing Jeep drama.
Good news! I thought maybe your UPS guy threw the charger like a football up your stairs and broke it. They do have priors with you.Any sane person would have offloaded this Jeep years ago so I really don't know what's wrong with me.![]()
In good news I let the Noco charge overnight and it's blinking green and in maintenance mode. Turns out I just wasn't patient enough (which may be part of the answer to the above question of what's wrong with me).

That was my first thought when I got the notice you had sent the box via UPS. They don't like me around these parts.Good news! I thought maybe your UPS guy threw the charger like a football up your stairs and broke it. They do have priors with you.![]()
