So if I’m dealing on a jeep and have already worked below invoice pricing but haven’t mentioned the tread lightly discount yet, am I entitled to another 1% of invoice. Let’s just say for example I’m at 4% under and then bring it up, am I entitled to 5% I would assume tread lightly is a reimbursement to the dealer so I’d be entitled to 1% more?

@nwpalumberjack

You assume correctly.... I know that is how it went when I purchased my JL.

Just be sure you have a $ amount agreement for your purchase approved by the Sales Manager, then bring up Tread Lightly to them and tell them you will be wanting to use it.

My Sales Manager and I went back and forth aggressively til I got the deal I wanted. After wheeling and dealing, I told them I would be using Tread Lightly and they had no qualms in my doing so.

Remember, the purchase, haggling / agreement with the dealer is not over lets say til the fat lady sings,.... I mean the Sales Manager says ok, to the agreement.

By the way, you don't actually get a full $1,000 off with Tread Lightly.. if I remember correctly it ended up being $500 ish. Been over 2 years since my purchase so I don't remember exactly.

Tread Lightly is optional at participating dealers. If your deal is already more than 1% below invoice the dealer does not have to take it but seems most do.

@nerubi

It's surprising that some dealerships are not even familiar with Tread Lightly.

Once dealer takes the time to do some research, they realize (usually) that Tread Lightly is a reimbursement to them and really does not mess with lets say their numbers.

As I mentioned to the OP, work this all out with the Sales Manager and not the bottom feeder, sales guy/gal. This way no surprises ...

I gave OP another link where he can get a real handle on Tread Lightly and it's use at a dealership.

As you said, dealer can say nay, to Tread Lightly but that is unusual..

Does anybody know if the Tread Lightly is any better than the standard Affiliate pricing you can get?

I was working with one dealer who said it is but others said they did not care as long as you have an Affiliate code (that is what Tread Lightly get you) it does not matter.

Reason I ask is that I have both Tread Lightly and one from the large company I work for so I was wondering if Tread Lightly got the dealer more on the back end?
