So I've had my Sport for just over a year now. Had no idea what I wanted to do with it when I bought it, I just wanted to get rid of my 2010 JK before it needed a new motor. My 3.8 experience wasn't pleasant. Here is my JLU in all its stock glory vs a couple days ago. I'll be updating the transformations over the next few days as I'm adding a few last touches for Overland Expo West...and then updates as I fix things I cheaped out on...and it's not the tent for all the Smittybilt haters

First up was some simple modifications. Magnaflow rock crawler exhaust and then up on the lift it goes for a spacer lift. The spacer lift is only temporary, but it's been temporary longer than planned lol
I really need to get a proper lift with adjustable control arms and track bars.

Since I decided that I wanted to go for an overland style setup I started looking for accessories for the JL. This was April/May of 18, and nothing was out yet, so I started thinking about modifying my utility trailer to get by for a while. A few trial and error tests mocking things up and I finally had something that worked. Off on my first camping trip I went...to my cousins back yard for the family memorial day camp out lol

I thought about doing the trailer thing and found a sweet mini teardrop, but it was spendy for a self built trailer with questionable title status.

But I finally decided to skip the trailer idea and go with the Maximus-3/rhino rack setup, since they were the only ones shipping anything away the time. I also added the Barricade Adventure HD bumper and 9k winch with synthetic rope, and then added the JK door hinge steps from Smittybilt.

After that trip, I had a good idea of what worked and what didn't, so back to the drawing board I went. Katzkin seat covers, which took a few days since this is my daily driver and I was sent 2 drivers seat backs, various lights on the bull bar, and then pulled the tent and awning off for winter. It's Oregon, it rains for 6 months and I hate camping in the rain... but I still went out and had fun until I didn't. Time for new tires!

I decided on Milestar Patagonia M/T in stock Rubicon size for now and had them mounted on Raceline Combat 17x9 wheels. SOOO much better than the stock all terrain tires. I was unstoppable for the type of off roading I do lol
Since it was winter, I started other little projects with the jeep. Front Runner JK tail gate table, Vector Offroad GGB, American Adventure Labs base plate, and a couple other minor things.

And then it happened...knock knock knock went the rear diff. My local dealership put me up in a sweet mommy missile while they tracked down a new rear axle assembly and replaced it under warranty. Got the jeep back in time for more installs to get ready for better weather. Cool tech CB kit, and the Vector Offroad full width dash rail. If you choose to install one of these, do yourself a favor and drop the windshield. So much easier that way.

My roof rack never fit right and the measurements never lined up, but I know how to make things fit with a big enough hammer lol
I ended up taking the rack off and starting over. Turns out Rhino Rack put the "REAR" sticker on the front. After figuring this out I re-did the front mounting points, measured everything out again, drilled a couple more holes in the top, patched a couple holes and finally got it to fit right.

That JL Mass Storage platform is very interesting. What are your thoughts on it so far? Right now we have a piece of wood we designed and painted with bedliner with points for our fridge. Looks interesting. Also, thoughts on the Frontrunner tailgate table? It's much cheaper than some of the other brands so saving some money would be nice :D

The MASS Storage Platform is really nice, but it kind of ties you into their product line to be compatible. I'll at least get their fridge slider since it's comparably priced to other brands, but I might build my own drawer system following the Trailrecon latest build.
The tail gate table works great for the price. It's tricky getting it lined up just right, but with a cardboard template, it's doable. You'll need to finish the cutting board yourself, but a little sanding and a few layers of cutting board oil will get it done.

Awesome build! Love seeing our customers out overlanding, using our products to their fullest extent. Glad to hear you got it to fit right in the end.
