I'm about to put an order at Gupton but have to think about transportation to Houston once it's in the dealer lot.
Option1 - Fly to Nashville and make the 15 hour trek to Houston
Option2 - Have a transportation company deliver it to my home. This is where I need some inputs - costs, experience, potential damage to vehicle, what happens then, etc.

Anyone else have had to pick up from a dealer who's not nearby?

I shipped a Porsche I bought from Boston to Houston using Montway about a year ago and they dropped it off at my door. It cost $1300 on an enclosed trailer. Great experience with them. If you want more details, shoot me a PM.

Thanks for the info. Cost is pretty close to what I expected - it roughly adds up to 2% of my Wrangler quote. Maybe need to fly and make a road trip out of this.

Nashville to Houston should be less than that $1300.

Interesting to know what the net difference would be?

shipping seems like a solid option. 🤷🏻
Congrats on the new Jeep.

Shipped a car on top load open trailer from NYC to Houston for about $950 or so several years ago.

Definitely fly there and drive it home. Not just for cost savings, but to break it in and get to know it right off the bat. I picked up my Jeep on a Saturday and drove to NOLA and back the second day I owned it.
