Transmission? Jeep dead at roadside

Currently sitting in my 2018 JLUR, waiting for a tow.

My husband was driving it. He attempted to downshift to make a turn, and couldn’t put her into any gear.

I’ve arrived now. I can smell that something was burning.

The clutch is pulled in to the floor. When the Jeep is off, I can shift. When it’s on, I can’t.

Currently waiting for a tow truck.

Have others experienced this? Thoughts?

Just make sure they flat bed it. Don't let them, tow it. But I'm sure you know that.

And hopefully you have an FCA sent tow rig coming, versus paying for the flat bed yourself.

I was clear on the phone about the need for the flat bed.

I have CAA, so that’s who is coming.

I’m just so pissed off....

Not sure if you have a programmer installed on your JL, but DO, unmarry the programmer and remove the programmer before the tow guy gets there.

Sucks, but it happens. There’s never a good time for this stuff, but a Friday makes it even tougher.

Air in the hydraulic line. They are letting her it sit overnight to see if there is more today.

If they suspect air in the line, I wonder why don't they just bleed the clutch? It's about a 5 minute job in most vehicles.

They did that, and everything seems good.

The question is, how did it get there?
I believe one way for air to enter is past the seal of the slave cylinder (in a clutch), or past the caliper pistons (in brakes). A loose fitting can also be to blame, but then you'll often see leaking fluid.
