2020 JLUR 3.6 AUTO. 1000 miles on it. I was just moving the jeep out of the driveway, put it in reverse out on the street, and got nothing. In drive it is stuck in 2nd gear only! I tried the off and on several times. Check engine came on. I limped to the dealership 1 mile away, they pulled an active code p1d92, or is it pid92? Any ideas what's going on? I've only had the jeep 23 days, and it's also been in for cam sensor replacement.

I just had the same issue on my 2020. Pulled out of my driveway and within 300 ft the transmission suddenly feels like it’s in neutral - the engine revs but no forward motion, and the check engine light came on. I stop, shift into park, and then into drive, same thing -engine revs but no go. The radio screen reads “place in park” or similar. I shut Jeep off, turn it back on, start it up and everything is fine.

I ran my OBD reader and it showed two error codes: P1D98 and P1D92. Cleared the codes and so far, no issues.

what was your diagnosis? I’m guessing there was some kind of odd fault code that may have been the transmission software throwing a fault. Very odd.

P1D98 CHRYSLER Meaning
The Transmission Control Module (TCM) monitors for conditions which lead to an unexpected transmission gear ratio (e.g. slipping clutches, hydraulic or mechanical defects, etc.). The TCM compares the actual gear ratio (i.e. the ratio of input speed to output speed) to a minimum and maximum calibrated gear ratio value. The TCM performs this comparison while driving in a fixed gear, during gear engagement, and during shifting from one gear to another.

P1D98 CHRYSLER Possible Causes
What does this mean?
  • Faulty Transmission Internal Components
P1D92 - Incorrect Gear Ratio Clutch 4 Defective

Please don't say they are now going to have problems with the automatics also.

I’m glad I ran into this thread.
This happened to me as well.
I received the same fault, explained to me as a cam sensor fault. I dropped off the Jeep on Friday. I’m told they can’t get to it until late Monday, early Tuesday at the earliest.
Any additional info on your fix, what was broken, continued problems?
appreciate it in advance.

do NOT WAIT A MOMENT! I complained for 2 years about my transmission. At 65,000 after warranty very gear went out while driving on highway. If you get incorrect ratio gear take it over and over and over to dealership. Do clear them until you find issue. Cost me 5,200. Dealership kept saying there wasn't an issue.

I also had that code; my Jeep also had metal shavings in the transmission pan. The trans was replaced, but it is not the same...

Curious how it’s running now that it’s fixed. Same thing happened to me at 1000 miles and I’m trying to get back confidence that it will work without issues when returned

It just burns me what dealers do to try and deny claims. "Inspected for damage or abuse of vehicle and none damage or abuse could be found"". What a crock. I have never seen this crap before on a warranty claim. The grammar is wrong and of course it's damaged or it would not have been replaced.

I had my transmission replaced under warranty at just under 100,000 miles no questions asked. Got my truck towed in and had transmission replaced in a day. Nowhere on the paperwork was this stupid nonsense. This is disgusting. Why even get a Jeep Wrangler and take it off road so they can claim you are abusing it?
