Planning my next 10 day excursion/overland trip in New Mexico. Are there special rules about entering and driving on Indian Reservation roads? The most I've ever done is drive through them on highways. I've never taken the time to explore them.

Any input is welcome.

Might want to check with the specific tribal authorities. I know some require a permit, or a escort. Did the Canyon de Chelly in Arizona a few years ago, and had to pay a Najavo guide to take us through. Now, I don’t think you can take your own Jeep, you have to ride in theirs.

And be careful. Most tribes do not recognize your state issued LTC, and do not allow firearms on the reservation. So don’t take take that $4000 Wilson Combat 1911. It could be confiscated.

Good luck, and share pics.

I didn't even think about my guns. I always have a pistol and a rifle with me on my expeditions.
