Has anyone retro fitted the Gladiator trail cam to JL yet?
I know, tazer has one. It's only 480p, I was holding out for the Mopar HD.
Looks like parts are now showing up to order.

I think I read somewhere that the 480p limitation was actually what the head unit can support, not a limitation of camera.

I thought that I read the input to the UConnect was only 480p so no matter if you have an HD camera or not, it will down scale to 480p.

so the Gladiator has a different 8.4 unit?
I believe it's the same unit, just with the "trail cam" feature turned on. I think it's even the same software/internal hardware used in the Ram's "cargo cam".

I thought I hear the Glad was a way better picture over the Tazer camera set up....

I don't have any experience with either, but there are differences in camera quality that don't have to do with resolution. In some cases, a lower resolution camera can have a better picture quality than a cheap higher resolution camera.

Anyone know the resolution of the 8.4 screen? There's really no reason for a camera to have more resolution than the screen.

Anyone know the resolution of the 8.4 screen?
I pulled this image from https://www.jeep.com/uconnect/systems/UAQ.html, which is 1000x750 (a perfect 4:3 ratio). I assume that they wouldn't upscale a low resolution image unless they had to, and that this image was pulled directly from the screen output. To me, the image appears to be a little fuzzy, so the screen is likely one of the following resolutions: 640×480, 800×600, 960×720

The 8.4 in my Chrysler 300 is 640x480. There's actually a key combination that you can do on the dash controls that will capture screen grabs of the display. I've done a few and they're 640x480.

If this is how the JL is, then there's really no point in any cameras beyond 480p

Maybe if you drop zautomotive an email they can give you more information but according to their website:
"Cargo camera input is not a Hi-Definition input like the backup camera; so the video quality will not be as good! This is a high quality standard definition (480i) camera. There is no way to add a high-definition cargo camera input to the JL radio."

The JT front cam, at least in the one I test drove, had a sprayer nozzel so you could wash the lens. There was a button on the screen that said 'clean'. Even if you installed this, I don't think you'd have that feature. I assume the software for the JT is slightly different than the JL's
