Sorry if this has already been posted somewhere...it looks as if FCA altered the recall procedure so that they no longer look at the build date on the frame. If any Jeep is under the recall, pictures must be taken and sent to FCA for review. Not sure if this is because they can’t be sure which frame build dates are impacted or if it is because some frames have dates that cannot be read (like mine).

I was told the same. They just changed the procedure on the numbers. If you were on the recall,he frame number does not matter anymore. I was told because they couldn't read a lot of them so FCA said f-it just take pictures of all of them. This is good news as they would have had to remove my undercoating to expose the frame number else wise.

I got this from US Customer Care on Tuesday morning (10/30):

"...Dealer to inspect frame build date to determine if weld photos need to be sent for evaluation
If photos are needed, dealer will arrange rental for owner while awaiting determination if a track bar weld repair is needed (within 48 hours)
If repair is needed:
A Track Bar Weld Team will visit dealer to complete repair (up to 4-10 business days)
Owner will stay in rental while vehicle awaits repair..."

There were 2 problems with this. I was at the shop later that morning for my appointment. First, there were no rentals so they sent me home after taking the pictures. Second, they sent in the photos and its been almost 72 hours and the shop has heard nothing back. The dealer repair shop has been texting me "no word back yet" every day.

And, as an added bonus, US Customer Care won't answer my emails any more! All I want is this cleared up one way or another, but the lack of attention and response says a lot.

Just heard back from dealer after waiting a little over a week counting having to retake a picture. FCA cleared my Jeep--no repairs needed.

Heard back from the dealership. FCA rejected their first set of pictures taken a week ago. I'm sitting at the dealer now while they are taking new pictures. Also, last Thursday I asked the dealer to send me the pics of my vehicle welds. She forwarded them to me and they AREN'T MY VEHICLE. I have no idea if they even sent the correct pictures to FCA. This is ridiculous. What a comedy of errors.

The dealer had me come back yesterday since FCA asked for more pics. The dealer just called me and said that FCA had passed me car! Looks like my welds are ok.

Just heard back from my Service Advisor at Island CDJR and the welds passed the inspection. No further action needed!

I’m now on day 17 waiting for repairs. My case has been “escalated” so many times I’m sick of hearing it. Jeep Cares? What a joke. It should be renamed “Jeep I don’t Care”! Here are 2 picks of my welds. They don’t look as bad as some I’ve seen.

I'm in the exact same situation as you. I think if they see any porosity on the welds, they want to repair it. Here's what mine looks like.

It's been over two weeks and the dealer still hasn't gotten a schedule for the weld team. A Jeep Waves rep told me FCA developed a bracket so weld teams won't need to be dispatched. I don't know what's going on at this point, but I have a Rusty's bracket sitting in the back of the Jeep at the dealership.

Took my Jeep into the dealership this morning, asked if they would be keeping it, and he said it was up to me? I said, up to me, are you going to inspect the welds to verify they intact? Of course, he said he would and I waited 3 hours for them to take the attached picture and reset my electronic steering box, because I was experiencing the widely known "Wandering" issue. In addition, I requested the pictures they took of the welds.

Attached is the pic they took! Where are the weld pics I ask? Well, "we just upload this to a server, and we will let you know if your vehicle is affected by the recall."

Hmmmm, a little odd.

Admin note: updated with more info regarding the call.

FCA has started the recall UA5 for the track bar weld issue. This affects about 18,000 JL Wranglers. The issue exists on about 4 percent of the recalled vehicles, says FCA. Some of the defective JL's haven’t been sold yet, FCA ordered dealers to halt sales of the recalled Wranglers until vehicles are inspected and repaired, if needed.

You can check to see if your vehicle has been recalled at: https://www.mopar.com/en-us/my-vehicle/recalls/search.html

Updated with official recall notice with service and repair procedure:
I found out this am that track team welding specialists are specifcally looking for off seam welds. Mine was recalled, it fell within time frame of potentially affected vehicles. All clear. Welds are good. The fix is not parts but a welder being sent to repair the welds. The Jeep Service at our local dealer was super patient and worked hard to get all my questions and concerns resolved. The customer service rep at Chrysler was helpful as well. Worth taking the time to make sure your jeep is safe.

Also: It states "Recall StatusRecall Incomplete, remedy not yet available" If no Remedy is available whats the point LOL. I wonder if we can just buy the RUSTY's support bracket and claim a reimbursement.
They are looking for off seam welds. Remedy is welder being sent to repair

Ugh! Just got mine back. My welds were ok. As of yesterday I was told a welder would be sent fix welds if they were off seam......this is really bad. I hope you get a safe and complete resolution soon.

Like any insurance policy, which is what these are, the unearned premium should be returned upon cancellation. Policy language and state insurance laws will dictate how much and under what circumstances a partial refund will/must be made. You should ask before you buy to be able to make a fully informed decision
They dont do that I'm 99% sure. This is extended warranty, while it may feel like "insurance" the same rules dont apply.
