Same. Even though my current JLUR had several welds, like the track bar bracket, re-welded, it clearly failed inspection and FCA agreed. That's why the replacement was started, because they looked at the re-welds and said, "yeah, those are not allowable." So, I'm driving around on a failed re-welded vehicle but the VIN does not show up for any recalls.

I also know of at least two other owners who's welds on the track bar look horrid. But they are also not on the recall.

Further, my CWIs predict that enough will be shown to NHTSA regarding welds all around the new JLs to cause another recall for frame welds in general. :crying:
I have family that are certified wielders (not for framework though) and from what they have said there’s no way to re-weld something without completely taking it down to bare metal and re welding it. But yet there’s a lot of re welds done on my jeep and I’m sure a lot of others that were not taken down to bare metal and re- welded .

I was told after my earlier post to get a better shot of my welds

My dealer set an appointment up for me in 3 weeks, in hopes that they will know what to do by that time.

Looks like it was originally missed (off the mark) and then they "fixed" it. Just horrible. Good luck!

Just got my RUSTY Bracket in the mail today after ordering it Tuesday. Very fast shipping. This thing is a BEAST!!!! I'm not even going to worry about this Recall Crap. This bracket will be better than any re-weld they'd do anyway.

I agree. Compare the welds and fit up of Rusty's bracket to FCA. FCA quality is a joke. They need to stop outsourcing to companies that can't do the job right. They should have rejected all these frames and made Tower eat the cost.

Holy crap that looks like shit. Sad part- I have no doubt this will be their fix. Also they are only concentrating on the Track bar, there plenty of other welds in the frame that I bet are just as bad.

Can't wait to see JL forums in a few years.

Have you seen the STAR publication on reprocessed welds?

Ditto. My CWIs said the same for most welds on galvanized frames like the JL. Going down to the weld toes, past the porosity or other irregularities. My track bar bracket was grinded down to the point that the welder grinded into the frame above the bracket. So, that one was actually grinded too far and potentially compromising the frame just above the bracket lip. Before and after pictures...

Robots don't sleep. A much better question would be how could someone responsible for *inspecting* that weld and passing it sleep at night.

These welds are among the worst "patch job" I've seen. Good luck getting it resolved. :headbang:

So who inspects the welds? I'm assuming all the recalls vehicles don't actually have an issue... Is it just an inspection to find out which do and then the fix those?

I appreciate all the information on the site. Last Monday I purchased the JL Trackbar bracket from www.rustysoffroad.com and I installed it last night. I am pretty certain that there is a visible crack on the weld along the side of the track bar. After installing the bracket, the Jeep tracks much better on the highway. I suspect that my track bar bracket was flexing and the Jeep was needing constant correction on the highway, this is likely a symptom of the failing track bar.
The recall comes up as unresolved on the Mopar web site for my vehicle.
