I am buying my JLUR at a dealer 200 miles from home. I plan on driving my sub-compact Toyota to pickup up the new Jeep. I want to rent a small aluminum U-Haul car dolly to tow my Toyota back home.
The dolly + Toyota GVWR is right at the maximum towing limit for a JLUR. The drive will be on essentially flat terrain and on smaller state roads (<55 mph).
The JLUR has the tow package option. Will there be a problem towing with a brand new JLUR? There is no mention in the users manual about towing with a brand new vehicle.

Were it me, I would not do that!

You should have at least a thousand miles on a vehicle before using it for towing.

Aside from this, there are other break in concerns you have.

Suggest you rent an economy car and drive it to the dealership. Won't cost you much more then the trailer rental.

Call the dealership and ask them who they do business with, rental car wise. You will be able to leave the rental there and the rental company will pickup at no charge to you.
