or... you would just call it a 6 piece. Which one makes more sense?
Makes more sense to me to call those side pieces part of the body because they are not horizontal...but thats just me. I am a noob to Jeeps so what do i know!? :)

They have never been considered part of the body, the windows have always been a part of the hard top or soft top.

The JKU hardtop is a top+"freedom panels".

The JLU hardtop is a true 3 piece top, meaning that now one dude will be able to remove any of the 3 pieces by himself. Which, frankly, they should have done years ago.

Surrounded by a modular hard shell top.

You know you'll be able to buy a hard center part for this roof. So you could have a true modular full soft top.

Bestop again tipped Jeep's hand with this:

A hybrid was in the works. I'd presume Jeep will offer both a fabric retractable center and maybe a hard panel to use.

Soft top for JL has the same channel piece above the door as the flip back roof for the current JK Freedom Top.

Thinking the door surrounds that stayed in place on the JK and TJ will be no more.

Now will look like this:

To me, this looks to be a soft top section for the freedom panel area of the current JK hard top. The spy shots show the freedom panel line to be straight on the JL.

This is what I'm thinking is what's hiding under the loose fitting soft cover (camo). There have been rumors of a sky slider top.

Russjeep, please report to the principal's office and turn in your man card...

:cwl::cwl::cwl::cwl::cwl:
I agree--not for a Jeep loving man to ever decorate his own rig with...but to sell to the lady lovin' Wrangler owner, to then use the proceeds to buy man gear for his Jeep with....that's as American as ...as....Jeep.

Is it not at least possible that FCA is simply looking to conceal MySky like panels here??? Rephased: could anyone rule out such an idea at this stage?

Sure, I think this is the power soft top version. Though the "MySky" system is hard panels though right?

Tailights are very distinctive styling features of modern cars. Not sure why the base tailights look so poor in comparison to the nicer ones seen on Rubi and Sahara. Most of the other Jeep cars have base LED tailights (Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, Compass). Secondly, the non-LED fender lights are hideous and make the JL look even older than the JK..
