I mean I agree with most of the above changes, though all the stuff to marginally increase MPG isn't really a feature to the consumer as much an annoyance to meet CAFE.

I think the folding windshield feature is an easy way to reduce cost. And maybe I'm weird, but I'd like the option to eliminate the entire touchscreen and I'd be happy with the dash screen only.

The guy who engineered the front window defrost should be fired.

5. Remove the 8th gear! That thing rarely gets used in Automatics.
No.

There's an A road that I frequently use where the 2.0T cruises along effortlessly in 8th gear, returning 26 MPG on average. That's not the only venue where 8th sees consistent use, either.

If there are JLs that don't see top gear due to heavy aftermarket wheel/tire combos, etc., that's something that the owners must live with. It's not a good reason to butcher an excellent transmission, the efficiency of which Stellantis and other OEMs depend on to avoid punitive CAFE penalties.

1. Remove flip down window.
2. Remove duplication of switches and app enabled controls (ie seat heating)
3. Remove pretty (useless) engine cover
4. stop spray painting final coat inside the engine bay (think Suzuki)
5. Stop printing a 400 page manual FFS
6. rationalise some of the crappy accessories

When they remove the flip down window in a year or two on the next upgrade. Everyone will be like "Wish they still had flip down window!" haha you know you will! Go naked and put down the windshield come on! Nothing does that!

I'm not going to bother listing ESS/safety features and other things mandated by gov. Here are legit things I question...

-folding windshield (I know it's tradition, but it doesn't even fold flat anymore)
-the dimmer control next to dash dimmer (I think it only dims door handle LEDs, seems useless)
-euro fender extensions (those are hideous)
-18" wheels

Hmmm... thought I'd have a longer list?!

#1 FAD - "Make a strong bad ass axle, then cut a big hole in it." - Bean counters

#2 ESS - "Lets starve the engine of oil at every stop light"

#3 Auto Window - Hate the fact that the window won't
automatically go up.

#4 Ginormous Key Fob - WHY, also the key keeps flying out like a mad switchblade.

#5 Non functional hood vents.

#6 Bring the cost of each trim down by 10K.

#7 Add a detachable gas spring to hood.

#8 Have the owners manual fit nicely in the glove box.

#9 Have a 5.7 Hemi option.

#10 Get rid of the 7" head unit. I don't have the 8.4, but I can't justify getting rid of it like I could if I had the 5" head unit.

Also I despise all the emission crap on the diesel, but understand why it there.
