I don't know if this is new with the JL as my previous rig was a 2012, but the heating/cooling controls are driving me nuts. This isn't the first vehicle I've had that had electronic climate controls, but in my wife's Suburban, when I put the air at 71 degrees - 71 degree air comes out of the vents. In my JL, depending on the differential between the inside of the cabin and the outside, it blasts freezing cold AC if I set it to 71 and it's 75 outside. Kick it up a few degrees - and then hot air comes out.

Am I the only befuddled bear here whose porridge isn't right in their JL?

What bothers me is that some days 70 is perfect when it's 95 out and other days 70 is too warm when it's 95 out. Seems like the climate system isn't consistent in this vehicle...and that defeats the purpose of automatic climate control.

I agree, it is too correlated to outside temp. It's very humid here, so a/c is a must even when it's only 75 degrees in the early morning. If I set temp within 2 degrees of the outside temp, heat comes out of the vents, regardless of what "number" it is set at. This morning, 77 degrees outside, set to 75: heat comes on. This afternoon, 95 degrees outside, set to 75: artic blast.

Hi JasonMSN,

We're sorry to hear that you are experiencing a concern with the A/C in your new JL. Have you brought this to the attention of your dealer? Please send us a PM if you are in need of additional assistance.

Thanks @JeepCares for responding. I will bring-up with the dealer when I go in next week for service, but this is likely by design rather than something not functioning in the Jeep, correct? Can you confirm either way the behavior of the AC/heater for us on the thread?

We drove our new Sahara home from the dealer today - about 3 hours and within 30 minutes my wife and I had this exact same complaint!

I'm used to simple controls; when you put the A/C on, it's only cold. I've learned to just set the temperature to LO (16ĀŗC) and adjust the blower between 1 and 3 for comfort. Satisfied with that for summer. Time will tell how it goes this winter.

I donā€™t have my JL yet, but my current 2011 JK has auto climate. When you set the temp number, you arenā€™t telling it what temp air you want to come out. You are telling it what temperature you want the inside of the car to be. On the JK it has an infrared sensor that samples the air in the vehicle I believe 2x every second, or every two seconds, canā€™t remember what it was. It automatically changes the temperature of the air coming out the vents based on the differential between the setting for the temp, and the actual inside temp. It also adjusts the fan speed and also what vents the air comes out. All I adjust typically is the air temp setting and let the system handle the rest. I do have two complaints though:

1) I donā€™t care for floor vents. I want the air coming out the dash. For cool air it always has the air come out the dash (good). For heat it always comes out the floor vents (bad). So in the winter I adjust the vents setting manually.

2) If you need to defrost you have to select that vent setting manually

I find it to work well in my 2011 and Iā€™m hopeful to equally like it in the 2019 I will order.

Hi JasonMSN,

At this time, we are documenting any concerns that you may have, and we have internal teams investigating further. I am happy to escalate a case to a specialist once you have an appointment set with the dealer. Please private message us for further assistance.

Agree with @MarkY3130. The setting is to set the temp inside the car. The air chill/heat will change over time based on inside temp. I do notice that sometimes it will start as wrong output; such as warm air when set to colder temp. However, the system will change it as long as I don't mess with the setting in a minute or so.
