My XR has a little over 7000 miles and Iā€™m getting 16-18mpg with 35x12.5/17 tires. Iā€™m actually surprised how well it does (20+ mpg highway)
this has been my experience as well. I live about 2 miles from work, so Iā€™m not on the highway often, but when I get on the freeway, I can do 70-75 and see a computer estimated 22-23mpg

Follow up here.
After 2 months, 6000klm, my Rubi XR is getting a consistent 18mpg mixed city highway. 4.56 gears work perfectly for average 35ā€ tires BUT if you even think that some day you may want to move up to 37ā€ tires just do 4.88 gears now.

My last tank on JLUR nonXR with 35s (same KO2s as on XR) and 4.10 gears. I do have the 2.0T and 8-speed auto.

Iā€™ve been getting similar on the last three tanks (which is when I installed them).

UPDATE:

I bit the bullet a few months ago and had 4.56 installed. I do get better mpg at around 16-17 mpg in town depending on my left foot and over 20 mpg on the highway, but the biggest difference is how amazingly easy the Jeep turns the 35s. Absolutely gone is the feeling of heaviness and hunt for the right gear by the auto tranny. Seriously, the Jeep turns the 35s as easily as it did the stock tires. I have an LSD and if I am a little too eager to leave from a stand still, it will chirp the tires right away.

Have about 1600 miles on my '22 XR. Getting 18-20 in mixed city driving- better than my Hemi Grand Cherokee!

It would be foolish to do a regear and install 4.10s if you plan to run 35s or bigger. I put in 4.88s because i run 35s and 37s. The 4.88s work great for both. I average 19mpg with V6 auto

I drove a 3.6rubi on 33ā€™s when shopping for mine. The XR is quicker, and Iā€™m getting 17mpg in mostly city driving.
As an update, Iā€™m just a hair over 7k miles now, and seeing low 20ā€™s consistently on the Highway. Usually 21-23mpg while cruising. Usually between 17-19 in City with my current drive.

I just picked up my Jeep today after switching from 4.10ā€™s to 5.13ā€™s. Also running and 3.6 auto with 315 KO2ā€™s so a bit smaller than 35ā€™s.
Iā€™ll chime back in after a week or two with my thoughts.

4.56 gears on the XR with 37" tires - 17.2 MPG - that is about 60% commute on interstate moving along at 75ish and the rest in town. If it's pure highway, 18 to 19+ is average depending on the headwind. These things are not aerodynamic :)

The eTorque really makes a difference from my previous Rubicons with the same 3.6L. I've also disabled auto start/stop via Tazer.

How do you feel the 4.56ā€™s push those 37ā€™s. Lots of people say 4.88 is a must, but interested in your opinion.

It's not a must, it's fine. I'm extremely happy with the performance and I will admit I was concerned based on some of the comments here. 37" Ridge Grapplers are great and I'll never go back to 35" tires on a Jeep. I love the stance, added sidewall while still having a nice looking rim (hate 17/18"), and it's quicker than my previous 35" setup on stock gears (previous Jeeps, not this one).

Pro Tip: Go drive one on the lot (used, new, etc.). I found a shop about 30 miles away that had both 35" and mostly 37" on Rubicon's and Shara's with a mix of engines. If you are anywhere near me in Virginia, you're welcome to try it out.

Oops, you're in Utah. Not close enough to try mine but someone near you has an XR with 37"s.

PS: Obviously what you do with your Jeep matters. I occasionally hit the trails and I'm not rock crawling anything crazy. If I were, perhaps 4.88 is a better path. I do need some decent MPGs so 4.56 is perfect.

Are you hitting 8th on the highway? Iā€™m less concerned about much else.

Think about it brother, lots of people here swear that they are fine on 37s with stock 4.10 gears. Although I know that they just donā€™t know how much better their Jeep would be on 4.56 or 4.88, youā€™ll be fine with 4.56 and 37s.
