Taking to dealer Monday to have them check the alignment. I was washing the Jeep yesterday and noticed that both front tires are feathering on the outer edges. Lovely, only 4k on them. I don't know how much adjustment is available on solid axle vehicles but hopefully they can correct this.

I’ve got 1300 on my bfg’s and I can already feel slight feathering! Same with my Rover at about 2500. Rotate as often as possible and take the fronts and criss cross them to the back so they run in the opposite direction til they true up!

Thanks but I disagree with your solution. The feathering is indicative of an alignment problem. Rotating the tires more than the regular 7k - 10k miles will only mask the problem AND you will simply feather all tires in the long run. Re-alignment is the best move.

Some vehicles just have an inherent issue with feathering/ chopping. Should it happen? No. But sometimes it can’t be avoided. I agree prudence would dictate checking the alignment but don’t be surprised if it’s not out of spec. My rover chops every 2500 I criss cross and they smoothen out, alignment is perfect.

The only adjustment available on the Wrangler without changing to offset ball joints and adjustable control arms is toe-in. Sounds like it just needs to be tweeked out a tad to me.

you have to run the ko2's at 37 psi cold.

Alignment is likely the issue, as the OP said. There is plenty of adjustment in a solid axle vehicle to fix that. A correctly aligned Jeep with rotations ever 3k to 5k miles and good shocks will help tires to last a very long time. I've replaced tires with my Jeeps around 60k to 70k and they've always had tread left to go further. All of the tires I've had were BF Goodrich, except for the original Goodyear Wranglers on the YJ. I've got about 4600 on the 315 KO2's on my JL and they appear to be wearing perfectly. I run them at 30lbs cold. The factory 285 BFG's appear to be doing well on my JK, but I have not put many miles on them yet.

Keep us posted. I'll bet they find the alignment to be well out of spec.

Just like another person mentioned in a previous post. There are no alignment adjustments with a stock Wrangler other than toe. No caster or camber adjustments and none of the control arms are adjustable either.

It is still easily fixed with proper alignment. Tires shouldn't feather on a solid axle vehicle that is properly aligned, unless there could be a bad shock or shocks, but the odds of more than one defective shock would be low.
