Yeah, I was very disappointed in the sales rep's knowledge on the matter. He seemed like he understand what I was asking and felt very confident in his answer; especially with him saying that he has helped multiple other customers with Wranglers in the past. He didn't even want to help me pick out a tire at all. Told me to go on their website and pick out new wheels and tires after I lift the vehicle...
I ran 35" KO2s on the stock Rubicon wheels for a year, beat the piss out of them, and never had any problems.

No issue at all. You will rub a bit at FULL flex unless you extend the bump stops. I had the dealer swap out 35’s before I even took delivery, 10,000 miles later I’m very happy with them, bone stock otherwise

I am about to purchase a new Rubicon 4xe from the dealership. I decided to go into my local America's Tire / Discount Tire store to see what they recommend for me with upgrading to a bigger size tire. The sales associate who helped me stated that I could not fit any bigger size tire onto the stock Rubicon wheels, ....
Tight but doable (that's what she said)

My local Discount Tire mounted 37 BFGoodrich KM3's on my non lifted Rubicon with the stock wheel. Now - they did inform me that it would most likely rub some - and it does (lift going on today). However, when the installer told me it might rub - he also pointed to his car. A Ford Crown Vic, with a lift and 32's. That looked like it would rub driving down the street.

Well this is a timely thread for me personally. I'm having Discount Tire mount Toyo Open Country 35/11.5r17s on my stock Rubicon 4xe this afternoon actually. They gave me no hassle whatsoever over the phone about installing them. Didn't mention anything about rubbing. I will add they didn't ask me if they were 12.5 or 11.5 wide, I just told them I had 35s I wanted mounted on stock rubicon rims and they gave me no hassle about it. Told me to come on in.

Here’s 39’s sold by and installed by Costco on stock 7.5” wide Rubicon wheels. Works great!
What is the width size of your 39s?

35s on stock wheels for the JL is fine, you will have slight rubbing in inner fenders on anything other than Rubicon but if you are considering 37s you cando the stock wheels (too narrow for 12.5” tires) also if you go 37s you will want to regear to 4.88/5.13 or you will miss the power.

I have 37s on a JLUR with stock 4.10s and she’s a fat pig, downshifts all the time and hangs out around 5/6th gear most of the time. Gas mileage suffers (I went from 22ish avg mpg on 33”s to 14mpg avg)

you will also want a 2.5” lift or you will definitely rub at flex. Here’s my ride with 37s, 2.5” lift and 17x9 wheels. No running AT ALLeven with swaybars fully disconnected.

TLDR: Stick to 35s to avoid expensive changes unless you plan on off-roading a lot or love the look and are willing to spend $3-6k more to regear and lift.

See my comment earlier - these tires are approved by Toyo to mount on 7.5" wheels per their website. 😇

The tire shop told me my sport couldn’t fit 285/70R17’s, and another shop flat out refused to put 265/70R17’s on my wife’s gladiator (same diameter but 20mm wider than stock) .........”just put them on”.

If the tire you want doesn’t show up in their system as an optional size for your trim, they will always default to “they won’t fit” for liability.
Agree, blame the lawyers (I am one and understand). Your basic tire places aren’t going to do anything outside the basic and normal for fear of liability. Plus they don’t deal that much with upgrading off-road cars. I had the same problem with Discount Tire but got different advice from an off-roading specialist.

I am about to purchase a new Rubicon 4xe from the dealership. I decided to go into my local America's Tire / Discount Tire store to see what they recommend for me with upgrading to a bigger size tire. The sales associate who helped me stated that I could not fit any bigger size tire onto the stock Rubicon wheels, and especially without getting a lift due to the fact that the tire would rub and could cause damage. Also stating that the stock wheels are too small width-wise for anything bigger, even went on saying that a 34s would rub too. His information is based on what their computer systems say.

I thought you could put a 35-inch size tire onto a stock Rubicon with no problem. Is what he is saying true? Like, I get the whole needing a lift thing. But I seriously thought that I could keep the stock wheels on the Jeep with no problems.

Maybe I should be just asking on here what size tire, lift, and new wheels should get for my new 4xe? Are 35s worth the small upgrade or should I just skip 35s and jump straight into 37s? I was planning on keeping the stock 33s on at first and seeing how far I can go with them while off-roading, but I thought since I would most likely upgrade anyways, might as well just do the upgrade right off of the bat and sell the brand new 33s to someone.
A family member of mine recently put on 35s on stock Rubicon 2020 model year stock wheels. It caused a lot of instability. Also if you check with the manufacturer you’ll find out that using those small wheels it’s not recommended by BF Goodrich. Family member had to buy new wheels in addition to the 35 inch tires, he’s more than happy with a 2 inch Mopar lift and 35’s.

it wasnt the America's Tire in Granada Hills by any chance was it? took my friends JL Sport there and they said the same thing. they refused to touch the jeep and said it would rub. they said they had worked on one already and it rubbed (this was probably two years ago, at least). i told them it was because of the euro bumper thingies which we had removed but they still refused. we took them back to the store OFF the vehicle and they had no problem. went back and home and mounted them on his stock Sport and no rubbing whatsoever (on road of course). 315/70/17 Patagonias.

do 35s fit on a stock Rubi with the bumper thingies still attached? with no rubbing whatsoever? we all remove them of course but corporate tire shop has customers who want to put them on bone stock rides as well.

Find another tire store. An upgrade to 35s on JLURs is as common as the sunrise.

Discount Tire is extremely conservative about size upgrades, beadlocks, wheel spacers, etc. Frankly, I've bought my last set of tires from them because of this kind of nonsense. Worse, they incentivize their sales staff to move obsolete, off brand garbage. My last straw with them, I got a set of 5 37" Nitto Trail Grapplers from Discount Tire Online last year. I run TR beadlocks so I mounted them myself, then took them to the local Discount Tire store to get them balanced. The manager refused to take in the work, said they wouldn't even rotate them for me in the future. I told him I'd just spent the last $1,800 they'd ever get from me.

FWIW, I'd previously tried to buy a set of BFG All Terrains from them to replace the set that was on my truck. The same guy tried to sell me the previous generation version of the tire, claiming they were "the new, upgraded model." I went over to the Big O store down the block and got the tire I wanted at a better price than Discount.

2019 on 37's without lift. Did scrub lightly in the back with bumps. Fuel Anza Wheels so they poke further out than the stock. With the E i suspect it might be a bit tighter

I have a couple questions. We're those these
"Fuel Anza, grey and black, model # D558 +1 offset"
I found a set and I'm trying to visualize them against the granite before I go buy them. Got any more pics, maybe in sunlight if so. Thanks

I've got 315/70/17 Kenda Klever AT2 tires on my stock Rubi 4xe with stock wheels and no hint of rubbing. I've done light off-roading and don't see a problem. Maybe I'd rub if I disconnected the sway bar.
